E-distribución, Endesa’s grid subsidiary, together with AEDIVE (the Business Association for the Development and Promotion of Electric Vehicles), recently held an information session for industry members aimed at clarifying the process for obtaining permits for electric vehicle (EV) charging points. The session also involved reviewing the latest legislative updates impacting the roll-out of this critical infrastructure.
During the session organised by e-distribución, participants explored both administrative procedures and technical requirements for grid connection, with a focus on the key stages of the permitting process. These stages include initial assessments, technical studies of the site and charging needs, and the drafting of the technical report. They also encompass applications for financial aid, installation execution, legalisation, technical certification, and final documentation. The main goal was to establish clear criteria to speed up administrative procedures and avoid the rejection of applications due to incomplete or incorrect information.
Building on the topics discussed during the first session held in May, this meeting allowed participants to raise specific questions about real cases, exchange experiences, and learn about the digitalisation and process-tracking tools e-distribución is implementing to streamline the permitting process.
According to AEDIVE, Spain currently has over 47,500 public charging points in operation. Collaboration among operators, distribution companies, and public administrations is crucial to accelerating the deployment of charging infrastructure and meeting the growing demand for electric mobility in Spain.
