- At the end of July there were 536,000 families with this discount on the electricity bill, almost 165,000 more than at the end of 2020.
- For vulnerable consumers the reduction on the electricity bill is 65%, for the severely vulnerable 80% and for the temporary "energy justice" category, 40%.
- Endesa is continuing to proactively assess organisations and institutions to promote aid and ensure that it reaches all those who need it.
- The social bonus is applicable for pensioners, officially registered large families, people in vulnerable situations, people earning the minimum wage and households with low incomes especially which are affected by the volatility of the energy markets.
Endesa has increased the number of Social Bonus beneficiaries by 44% compared to 2020, the year the pandemic broke out. This means that almost 536,000 Spanish households who are customers of Endesa have been awarded this aid, which reduces the electricity bill on the voluntary price for the small consumer (PVPC) by between 40% and 80%.
To promote the Social Bonus, Endesa provides proactive assessment to bodies and institutions with the aim of informing all entities close to the final consumer with regard to the existence of the aid, any regulatory changes and how to apply for it. In 2022, assessment was given to as many as 367 entities, including associations, regional governments, town halls and social services, and this year the company is continuing with these actions to encourage all those they believe can benefit from the Social Bonus to apply for it.
The coronavirus and energy crisis led the administration to promote extraordinary measures to mitigate the effects on the most vulnerable households, which will remain in force until 31 December and promote an increase in the number of people benefitting from the Social Bonus, which has been strengthened by automatic renovations since Royal Decree Law 6/2022 came into force. In just over two and a half years (from 31 December 2020 to 31 July 2023), Endesa has increased the number of customers benefitting from the Social Bonus by 165,000 and, so far this year there has been an increase of 63,000 families compared to the end of 2022.
By type, 65.3% are people who are vulnerable in accordance with income criteria, 27.2% are officially declared large families, 4.9% are pensioners, 0.9% are people earning the minimum wage and 1.7% are households with low incomes and particularly affected by the energy crisis.
