The company is renewing its agreement with the festival for three more years and consolidating a pioneering model for the electrification of cultural events.
The Parc del Fòrum venue will operate exclusively on electricity from renewable sources and without the use of fossil-fuel generators.
Endesa is deploying a specific electrification, monitoring, and response plan to ensure the power supply throughout the four days of the festival.
Endesa once again positions the Cruïlla Festival as the first and only major music festival in the country to operate entirely on electricity from renewable sources and without the need for fossil-fuel generators. For the fourth consecutive year, the company is driving this energy model at the Parc del Fòrum venue, consolidating a commitment that is further strengthened this year by the renewal of the agreement between Endesa and the festival for the next three years.
Thanks to this fully electrified model, Cruïlla eliminates the use of diesel generators and significantly reduces the environmental impact associated with electricity generation, establishing itself as a benchmark for sustainability in the large-scale events sector. In the latest edition, the festival consumed 61,640 kWh, resulting in a reduction of 17,259 kg of CO₂ emissions into the atmosphere. In other words, the step taken by Cruïlla together with Endesa to electrify its energy consumption has been key to its commitment to a tangible reduction in emissions.
This model is made possible through the use of the Parc del Fòrum grid, powered by electricity from renewable sources, and the infrastructure and operational capacity deployed by Endesa, which guarantees a stable, secure supply adapted to the needs of a large-scale event.
A consolidated alliance for cultural sustainability
The collaboration between Endesa and the Cruïlla Festival began in 2023 with the aim of demonstrating that major events can be held using a more sustainable energy model. Since then, the festival has established itself as the first and, for now, the only fully electrified live music festival powered by green energy out of the 1,000 live music festivals held in Spain.
The renewal of the agreement for the next three years reinforces this shared commitment and ensures the continuity of a model that combines technical innovation, public service, and commitment to the energy transition.
A specific electrification, monitoring, and rapid response plan
To ensure the proper functioning of the electrical system during the four days of the festival, Endesa redesigns the distribution grid and activates a specific plan integrating technical, operational, and monitoring measures:
Electric grid reconfiguration: allocation of an exclusive medium-voltage line for the Parc del Fòrum and diversion of regular consumption to alternative lines, with an additional connection to ensure redundancy.
Preventive infrastructure inspection: full inspection of transformer substations and switching systems, including thermographic analysis to detect potential critical points.
Suspension of scheduled works: suspension of any planned maintenance activities on the local grid during the festival days.
Rapid response teams: deployment of intervention teams on-site with continuous support from the Endesa Control Centre.
Real-time monitoring: continuous tracking of electricity consumption to anticipate and manage any incidents.
Post-event reconfiguration: restoration of the grid’s standard configuration once the festival has ended.
This setup ensures service continuity and guarantees the necessary conditions for the festival activities to run normally without affecting other customers connected to the same power lines.
Reusable cup system and waste management
Alongside electrification, Endesa also contributes to reducing waste through the festival’s reusable cup system. This model minimises the use of single-use packaging through selective collection, cleaning, and continuous reuse of cups throughout the Cruïlla event. This promotes a more efficient consumption cycle and reinforces the commitment to an event with a lower environmental impact.
Energy accessibility and an inclusive experience
Within the framework of the festival, Endesa also contributes to improving the audience’s experience through accessibility-related initiatives. Among these, the availability of solutions such as noise-reducing headphones stands out, as part of the resources designed to facilitate a more accessible experience for all attendees.
