Madrid, 21 December 2023. Endesa has just released its first documentary series, “Deja que te cuente” pursuing one major objective: To bring the public closer to the reality of the energy transition that our country is experiencing. To this end, it is being accompanied by the best person possible: Actor Imanol Arias narrates, in the first person, how rural areas of Spain are undergoing a major transformation as part of the promotion of renewable energies and the development of distribution grids. Having shot to fame in the series "Cuéntame" (in which his character was born in a small rural town in Castile), he has extensive experience narrating documentaries for which he has visited countless locations across Spain, making him the perfect travel companion on this adventure.
“Deja que te cuente” consists of stories told by people who live in the regions where former thermal power plants have given way to renewable energy and where new opportunities are transforming these towns.
"The energy transition is the main challenge that companies in the energy sector must face and bringing this reality closer to society is more than a commitment, it is a responsibility. “Deja que te cuente” will explain this in a very entertaining, down-to-earth and real way", according to Lola Riosalido, head of advertising and events at Endesa.
The series, consisting of five-minute episodes, is available on the corporate website and on Endesa's YouTube channel.
The first episode has now been released, exploring how renewable energy is changing the town and its surroundings. The thermal power plant in Andorra (Teruel) has been operational for more than four decades, creating a deep-rooted link in the area. In 2020, the facility permanently ceased its operations. An ambitious industrial plan has now been put in place on the land formerly occupied by the plant, focusing on the generation of renewable energy. This is in addition to a powerful socio-economic plan, structured around training, job creation and the promotion of activity throughout the area, thus designing a sustainable future to stabilise the population and create new opportunities.
Andorra is a particular case due to the size of the project, but not unique. For Endesa, the energy transition has to be fair and that means leaving no one behind. To this end, all renewable energy deployment plans are associated with shared value projects, which take both the company's objectives and the priorities of local stakeholders into account, strengthening projects and assets in their community to ensure the benefits of the decarbonisation process reach everybody and clearly outweigh the impacts.
