- The future of sustainability involves achieving greater energy efficiency in homes, striking a balance between energy consumption and the use of basic services. With some personalised tips it is possible to save 120 euros per year on your electricity bill whilst helping the planet at the same time
- This tool is available online for residential customers who contract their electricity from Endesa and have contracted power of less than 15 kW
Endesa has launched a new version of infoEnergía, a free digital customised assessment tool that enables families to better manage and control their electricity consumption. This service is especially useful for controlling expenses and improving energy efficiency as a New Year's resolution. The company estimates that households can save around 16% on their electricity consumption if they apply personalised infoEnergía tips.
The service is available to private customers with contracted power of less than 15 kW and who have a contract with Endesa. In fact, infoEnergía was launched in 2015, becoming the first information and assessment service for the control and management of electricity consumption. Now, Endesa has updated and improved the tool by simplifying, structuring and enriching the content with the aim of improving usability and experience for customers and, in this way, helping them consume more efficiently, reducing their electricity consumption and, as a result, their bill.
Endesa calculates that a household can save an average of around 120 euros a year with some tips such as correctly adjusting the temperature of the refrigerator, which would achieve a saving of 28 euros/year; changing half of the light bulbs in the house for LED bulbs, which would save another 24 euros/year, and using a heat pump for heating, which can reduce energy expenditure by 70%.
This means a family of four (two adults and two children) could save around 125 euros per year if they replaced more than half of their lighting with LED lights, filled the dishwasher to the maximum, defrosted the refrigerator, took advantage of the residual heat of the oven or ceramic hob, reduced standby use by 30% or did cold washes in half of the washing machines, for example. Applying the same advice, two cohabiting adults could save around 95 euros, which would be equivalent to an energy saving of more than 16% in both cases.
To access infoEnergía the customer must be registered at endesa.com and access the customer area. Once inside the electricity contract there is direct access (at the bottom left of the screen) to the tool, where there is detailed information to understand electricity consumption in a simple way and even compare consumption and energy efficiency with homes with similar characteristics and with the average consumption of the neighbourhood, municipality and province. In addition, those users who complete the profile of their home will have access to much more personalised information, such as knowing how much appliances consume and the expense associated with each of them; simulating the savings that would be achieved if they were exchanged for more efficient ones; comparing their level of efficiency with that of their neighbours or even simulating a change of habits or equipment to determine how many kilowatts and how many euros could be saved.
What is energy efficiency?
Energy efficiency is the optimisation of energy consumption that enables us to achieve the same levels of comfort and quality of life with the implementation of mechanisms to save energy and avoid losses throughout the process.
In short, energy efficiency seeks a balance between energy consumption and the use of the essential services we need in our daily lives. Technological progress in the production of energy, how it is transported and devices that help us save are essential to achieving that energy efficiency.
