- The total volume of energy that Endesa provides for these production plants amounts to 30 GWh/year.
- The agreement includes a clause stating that two-thirds of the energy should be certified as of renewable origin.
Endesa and Teknia, a Spanish multinational company specialising in the manufacture of metallic and plastic components for mobility solutions, signed a long-term energy contract for 5 of the industrial group's plants in Spain. According to this agreement, the energy company will provide Teknia with up to 30 GWh/year to cover 100% of the energy requirements for these factories. Most of this energy, up to two thirds of the total, will have Guarantees of Renewable Origin (GdO in Spanish), which means Teknia will be increasing its supply of renewable electricity.
The agreement will enable Teknia to maintain a better price stability horizon for 5 of the 9 plants they have in Spain, one in Aragón, two in Cantabria, one in Catalonia and one in the Basque Country. The activities at these factories involve aluminium injection, machining and stamping technologies.
This contract signed with Endesa will enable Teknia to make progress in its sustainability strategy, which is an integral part of the multinational's activity, committed to the manufacture of environmentally friendly mobility. Its activities are undertaken in different parts Spain and the company is aware of the need to offer solutions that respond to the needs of its customers, who it fully supports in this strategy. This enables Teknia to meet the objective of consuming electricity from renewable energies at all its Spanish plants.
For Javier Ferrer, Endesa's Commercial Manager for Clients South, "this new contract initiates a stage of long-term collaboration between Endesa and Teknia based on the supply of green energy, which we hope we can extend to other collaborations aimed at decarbonisation".
Rafael Morales, Teknia's Operations Manager, explained that "with the signing of this agreement, Teknia is contributing to the promotion of a more sustainable industrial and energy model and the development of renewable energy sources, while providing our customers with access to it in their production processes and as a result, to the whole mobility value chain".
