The workshops aim to provide professionals from NGOs and Social Services, as well as consumer Office staff, with key knowledge and tools so that these entities can advise families experiencing energy vulnerability.
The webinars, aimed at the general public, seek to provide essential knowledge on how to save on energy bills, with a particular focus on the social bonus subsidised rate.
Since 2016, 77 workshops have been held across the country to train nearly 2,000 professionals from NGOs and social services. An estimated 325,000 people affected by energy poverty have received support from those trained through this initiative.
Endesa, the European Anti-Poverty Network in Spain (EAPN-ES), and the Asociación de Ciencias Ambientales (ACA, ‘Association of Environmental Sciences’) are launching their eighth season of training and outreach initiatives, aimed especially at helping disadvantaged families reduce their energy bills. The activities planned for 2025 include 15 workshops on ‘Keys to saving and energy efficiency in vulnerable households’, aimed at professionals from social institutions working with people at risk of poverty or social exclusion, as well as two webinars aimed at the general public. Both the workshops and webinars are free of charge, with prior registration required on the EAPN-es website.
The aim of the workshops is to provide professionals with the key knowledge and tools needed to help the families they assist, especially those who may struggle to pay their electricity bills.
Since 2016, this project has delivered 77 workshops across the country. To date, nearly 2,000 professionals from NGOs and social services have received training, and an estimated 325,000 people affected by energy poverty have been assisted by these certified advisers.
In 2025, the eighth edition of the initiative will offer both online and in-person sessions, to be held on the following dates and in the following regions:
Andalusia: four workshops, three of them in-person – on 23 April in Seville, 29 April in Granada, and 7 October in Malaga – and one online workshop on 18 September.
Aragon: two workshops – one in-person in Zaragoza on 2 October, and one online on 30 October.
Canary Islands: one online workshop on 22 June.
Catalonia: two workshops – one in-person in Barcelona on 21 May, and one online for the whole region on 10 June.
Madrid: one online workshop on 2 June.
Valencian Community: one in-person workshop on 11 June.
Northwest Spain (Galicia, Asturias, and Castile and Leon): one in-person workshop on 29 May.
The workshops cover key topics such as the concepts of poverty and energy poverty, how to understand energy bills, the social bonus, and energy efficiency. They are held by speakers from EAPN and ACA, along with experts from Endesa’s customer service teams.
Through a practical approach, the workshops offer attendees advice on how to correctly interpret energy bills, identify areas where consumption can be optimised and costs reduced, understand the characteristics and eligibility criteria of the social bonus, and learn the steps required to apply. They also provide tips on energy-saving habits and efficiency measures.
In addition, 2025 will see the consolidation of open online training sessions aimed at consumers in general, with a special focus on vulnerable individuals. Two webinars are scheduled – one on 7 May and another on a date yet to be confirmed in October – with the goal of providing participants with practical and useful training to help prevent and alleviate situations of energy poverty. These sessions are also free of charge, and registration is available through the same website.
These initiatives are part of one of the objectives of Endesa’s Strategic Sustainability Plan, aimed at facilitating access to energy for people in vulnerable situations, in collaboration with professionals from NGOs and social services. In this regard, one of the main focuses is on initiatives designed to inform, train, and support the population in understanding key aspects of the energy industry, thus promoting more equitable and informed access.
