- The headquarters of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) will host the event Letras, cámara, acción (Letters, camera, action) on 1 April at 19:30, a free public talk open to all with prior registration.
- Filmmaker, writer, and RAE academic Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón and director and screenwriter Jonás Trueba will lead this discussion on the art of storytelling in literature and film.
- The talk will explore topics such as the differences between writing and directing and the process of adapting literary works for the big screen. Furthermore, it will also involve the role of narrative in both creative disciplines.
As part of the collaboration between the Endesa Foundation and Fundación pro-RAE, the Royal Spanish Academy will host this new literary talk titled Letras, cámara, acción on 1 April at 19:30.
The event brings together filmmaker, screenwriter, writer, and RAE academic Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón and director and screenwriter Jonás Trueba. They will engage in a conversation about the art of storytelling through two complementary creative forms: literature and film.
Cinema and literature will serve as the two thematic pillars of the talk, which will feature two renowned figures of Spanish cinema. The discussion will focus on writing, story development, and the journey from page to screen. It will also address subjects such as the differences between the roles of screenwriter and director, how to connect with readers and viewers, and the influence of literature and the classics in the cinematic universe—and vice versa.
Admission is free and open to the public until full capacity is reached. Those interested in attending can reserve a spot through the Royal Spanish Academy’s website.
With this initiative, the Endesa Foundation reinforces its commitment to promoting culture, critical thinking, and creativity, using both the written word and visual storytelling as powerful tools for sharing stories.
