- The Company has today started the construction of Torrepalma, a new photovoltaic plant that during building work will employ about 250 people.
Endesa, through its renewable energy division Enel Green Power Spain (EGPE), today started construction works for Torrepalma, a photovoltaic plant located in the municipality of Seville and that will have 22.5 MW of installed power that will enable the emission into the atmosphere of about 35,000 tons of CO2 per year to be avoided
Having prepared the land and completed the preliminary work of fencing off the enclosure that will house this photovoltaic installation, Endesa's technical team has now started work on building what will be Endesa's fourth photovoltaic plant in the province of Seville. Endesa's new infrastructure will produce 42.4 GWh per year, equivalent to the annual energy consumption of a town like Coria del Río.
Endesa will invest more than 15 million euros in the construction of a photovoltaic park in Torrepalma and during construction will employ up to 250 people, with building expected to be ready by the end of 2021.
In Andalusia, and through its renewable subsidiary Enel Green Power Spain, Endesa is building the Sol de Casaquemada photovoltaic plant in the town of Sanlúcar la Mayor in the province of Seville, as well as another photovoltaic plant in the province of Huelva. The Company has also completed the construction of four photovoltaic plants, two of them in the province of Seville and two others in the province of Málaga.
The construction of all these projects is based on Enel Green Power's "Sustainable Construction Site" model, including the installation of photovoltaic solar panels to meet some of the energy needs during construction work and measures to save water by installing tanks and rain collection systems. Once work has been completed, both the photovoltaic panels and the water-saving equipment will be donated to the municipalities for public use.
In order to maximise the social-economic impact that the projects will have on the community, Endesa's priorities include employing local labour, as well as the hiring catering services and accommodation for workers in the local area. With this in mind, training courses in the installation of photovoltaic panels have already been organised, with a view to training and promoting a specialised local workforce.
But Endesa's renewable subsidiary, Enel Green Power Spain, will not stop with these projects and is continuing to study more options throughout Andalusia, where it is processing about twenty renewable projects distributed throughout the region of Andalusia.
Endesa currently manages a renewable capacity of more than 7,779 MW in Spain through EGPE, including: 4,745 MW of hydraulic power; 2,422 MW of wind power, 609 MW of solar power, and 3 MW from other renewable sources.
Enel Green Power, a part of the Enel Group, specialises in the development and management of renewable energies worldwide, with a presence in Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Oceania. Enel Green Power is a global leader in green energy and has installed capacity of about 50 GW with a generation mix that includes wind, solar, geothermal and hydroelectric power and it is spearheading the integration of innovative technology at its renewable energy plants.
