- The company filled the storage tanks in August to reinforce the security of supply in winter and has been carrying out LNG unloading operations on a regular basis for months
Endesa will carry out an LNG loading operation at the El Musel terminal this week. The cargo ship Attalos will arrive this Wednesday in the port of Gijón to carry out an operation to load an additional volume of LNG to be delivered to its next destination. Endesa plans to carry out another similar loading operation at this plant during the month of May.
These loading operations in El Musel highlight the importance of the logistics services that Endesa can provide in the operation of the natural gas supply network, facilitating the efficient distribution of gas and LNG both nationally and internationally.
The decision to shut down these LNG loading operations in El Musel was made after rigorous analysis and operational planning, ensuring compliance with all regulations and maintaining the integrity of the energy supply for our customers and partners.
Last summer, Enagás awarded Endesa the logistics services for unloading, storing and loading LNG at the El Musel plant in Gijón. The award attracted strong interest among energy trading companies and is a significant milestone for Endesa, as it provides the company with operational flexibility, which is vital at times of congestion at European terminals. In addition, the LNG tanks provide storage capacity and the exclusive use of the terminal opens the possibility of new business opportunities, contributing to strengthening Europe's security of energy supply.
Last August Endesa filled its storage tanks in preparation for winter to strengthen security of supply, and is also carrying out unloading operations on a regular basis to meet the needs of the terminal.
The possibility of carrying out LNG loading operations in El Musel reflects Endesa's commitment to strengthening Europe's energy infrastructure. This unique position of Endesa in El Musel will bring new business opportunities from the American LNG contracts that are received at this terminal and the relationships that Endesa maintains with other companies in the sector.
