- Energy efficiency in homes during the hottest months is the key to finding a balance between electricity consumption and comfort.
- Endesa has InfoEnergía, a free, customised service that enables expenses to be controlled and helps customers consume more efficiently. It is available online for residential customers who contract their electricity with Endesa and have contracted power of less than 15 kW.
- The energy company has initiated a campaign that economically rewards clients for being more efficient and consuming less, with a discount in their electricity bills for each kWh not consumed and providing them with access to solutions to reduce their consumption and to help them save.
Efficient energy consumption is essential to reduce your ecological footprint and, at the same time, save on electricity bills, especially during the summer months, when consumption tends to be higher. By taking advice and adopting a good lifestyle, spending can be controlled by optimising energy consumption whilst still having a good level of comfort at home. For example, making good use of air conditioning to cool the home, or unplugging appliances that are not being used can result in savings of about 45%. If to this we add the use of awnings and thermal insulation in the windows, the efficiency increases even more.
In this regard, air conditioning accounts for a third of household expense and for each degree that the temperature is lowered, the cost increases by 7%. This is why the ideal temperature to maintain is 26ºC and it should be taken into account that a difference of more than 12ºC compared to the outdoor temperature is not healthy.
It is also advisable to close doors and windows when the air conditioner is working so as not to waste cooling energy and to keep the filter clean. This is how spending can be reduced by up to 35%. Choose the most efficient appliance, that is, one that cools the house better with the lowest consumption of electricity and which operates more ecologically. This will generate greater comfort, savings and help you meet your commitment to sustainability.
You should also know that 10% of the bill corresponds to devices that are always connected even though they are not being used, including the microwave, electric coffee maker, electric water heater, television, router, laptop, mini-chain, chargers, etc. generating what is called phantom consumption. By unplugging them you can make annual savings of to 64 euros.
In the case of the refrigerator and the freezer, they cannot be unplugged because they will contain food even when you are on holiday or away from home. What can be done is to regulate the thermostat to ensure it is cold enough to preserve the food and keep it healthy, and because you will not be opening the door it stays colder inside so you can actually raise the temperature a little. For each degree raised you can save 6% of energy. You should also to check that the ventilation grilles are clean of fluff and are not blocked, and you should also remove frost from the freezer.
Improve energy efficiency by being better informed
Customers who are in the deregulated market with Endesa have access to InfoEnergía, a digital tool providing free, customised advice to enable families to have better control and manage their electricity consumption. This service is especially useful for controlling expenses and improving energy efficiency and it is available to private customers with less than 15 kW of contracted power, so they only have to register on endesa.com and access the Client Area, where they will find direct access to the tool. As a new feature, customers can also access InfoEnergía from the Endesa Client mobile application, by entering their username and password (or creating one at that time). There is also a button that takes them directly to the tool.
The new campaign: For every kWh saved, Endesa discounts another from the bill
Endesa has launched a campaign called "Everything counts" that aims to continue raising awareness of the need to improve energy efficiency in homes and does so totally disruptively. It is the first initiative of its kind that gives an economical reward for the 'non-consumption' of energy, both to existing customers and to those who register for any of the tariffs that the company offers in the deregulated market.
Specifically, the company gives the client double motivation to save energy: They get a discount for each kWh not consumed in their electricity bill and they are given access to efficient equipment solutions offered by Endesa X, such as the installation of air conditioning equipment and heat pumps, as well as switching to solar self-consumption and/or aerothermal solutions which will help customers save significantly right from the start.
