- A total of 20 courses are already being taught by Endesa, the Association of Environmental Sciences (ACA in Spanish) and the European Network for the Fight against Poverty and Social Exclusion in the Spanish State (EAPN-ES in Spanish) throughout Spain.
- This initiative is part of an information campaign promoted by the company with the aim of providing the necessary tools to professionals from NGOs, social services and consumer offices so they are able to improve their work of assessing and supporting families in vulnerable situations.
- Workshops have already been given in Huesca, Teruel and Zaragoza and today there are online workshops for professionals from Castile-León, Galicia and Asturias, and, specifically, in the area of El Bierzo.
As a result of situations arising from the conflict in the war in Ukraine and its impact on the energy market, Endesa has doubled the number of workshops against energy poverty compared to those given since 2016. In this new edition there will be 20 workshops throughout Spain, 13 of them in face-to-face format and the rest online. The one designed for this same profile of beneficiary in the northwest, Castile-León, Galicia and Asturias is currently being offered with the presence of 30 institutions. The next courses will take place during the winter and spring of 2023 for Seville and Huelva with workshops on 19 and 20 January respectively. Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Barcelona, Tarragona, Girona, Lleida, Cáceres, Badajoz, Ceuta and Melilla, Málaga, Mallorca and Menorca will complete the programming for this initiative.
Endesa currently has nearly 450,000 customers in Spain who have subscribed to the Social Bonus. This number could increase when people have better knowledge of the requirements to request this benefit or when there is an increase in the groups eligible to request it under the new regulations. It has become more important than ever to know how to request this aid from the State, what benefits it brings and how to be more efficient when it comes to consuming energy. These are some of the key points included in the courses that the company, together with its partners, provides for NGOs, social services and consumer offices and that since 2016 have been attended by more than a thousand entities assisting more than 200,000 people.
This initiative is part of Endesa's Sustainability Plan which establishes a public commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of "Access to energy". With regard to the social aspect, the company undertakes actions that make this access easier, such as training for entities that work with people in vulnerable situations, an example of which is these workshops to which we refer, as well as direct assessment for these people and raising awareness on the responsible use of energy aimed especially at new generations. Agreements are also established with NGOs and public institutions with regard to not cutting off supply beyond what is required by law and assistance and guidance is provided for Organisations and Associations with regard to energy issues and regulatory developments within the sector.
