The IVth Endesa League Campus commenced yesterday in Madrid, in a new edition whose aim is to introduce 100 children between the ages of 10 and 15 to the values of basketball. These young people are the children of employees of Endesa, the ACB Principal Sponsor.
Following the successful experience of the first three editions, in 2012, 2013 and 2014, Endesa and the ACB have committed themselves to repeating a special summer Campus in Boadilla del Monte (Madrid), with basketball as its main theme.
The children taking part are given board and lodging between 30th August and 5th September at a campus oriented toward sport and fun.
During their stay, they will enjoy water activities in the pool, go canoeing, go on excursions, play paintball and, above all, will play basketball. The children will play their favourite sport for three hours each day, with anoutstanding group of top experts. Coaches who are members of the technical staff of teams in the Endesa League will be present through the week to teach the youngest.
All in all, there will be 10 coaches taking part in the campus, under the supervision of Paco Torres, journalist, technician and qualified national coach. There will be no lack of qualified personnel, such as a fitness trainer, physiotherapists and physicians available 24 hours per day, to guarantee the fitness and safety of the participants. The IVth Endesa League Campus will also have 10 leisure time monitors.
And as if this were not enough, during their stay the children will be visited by professional players from the Endesa League, who will delight basketball lovers throughout the week. They will teach throwing techniques, tactics and give advice so that the children, as well as enjoying themselves, can learn from their heroes.
The campus commenced this Sunday last, with a meeting in the Auditorium of Endesa’s headquarters in Madrid, where details of the aims and the functioning of the same were given.
Next Saturday, 5th September, the date of closure of the Endesa League Campus, there will be matches between male and female teams of children against their coaches. Each child will take home a gift in the form of a diploma and a ball, as a memento of an unforgettable week.
