Endesa and the Real Madrid Foundation celebrate the “VI Tournament for Integration” to promote sport in Chile, Brazil and Colombia

  • This football competition is for the teams of 12 and 13 year-olds who are the winners of the Chilectra Cup in Chile, the Ampla Cup in Brazil and the Codensa Cup in Colombia, and it provides them with the opportunity to play against one of Real Madrid’s youth teams.
  • The aim of this tournament is to promote sport as a stimulus for greater integration between cultures, while at the same time fostering civic values.

Endesa, an Enel Group company, and the Real Madrid Foundation have celebrated the "Tournament for Integration" for the sixth consecutive year, it is an initiative in which 12 and 13 year olds from Chile, Colombia and Brazil and a Real Madrid youth team join together in a football championship. The aim of this competition is to promote sport as a stimulus for greater integration between cultures, while at the same time fostering civic values.

Real Madrid City once again hosted the tournament, which saw the Real Madrid Academy’s Junior B team play against the winning teams from the Chilectra Cup in Chile, the Codensa Cup in Colombia and the Ampla Cup in Brazil. This “Tournament for Integration” is part of the collaboration agreement between Endesa and the Real Madrid Foundation that started in 2010 and has allowed the dreams of these children to become a reality.

All the members of these Latin American teams went on the Bernabéu Tour and attended the game between Real Madrid and Levante, allowing them to see their idols close up. The young footballers also had the chance to train at the Real Madrid City training facilities before competing in the tournament, which was won by the Real Madrid team.

The Real Madrid Foundation has been developing social initiatives in various Latin American countries for over 10 years. These initiatives are based on the social-sports schools model in which sport is used as a tool for promoting coexistence, integration and social inclusion. These schools are mixed sex and are aimed at children from vulnerable areas.

All these initiatives are part of Endesa’s commitment to social development. They are all part of the Enel Group’s projects aimed at improving the quality of life of the neediest populations and those living in urban areas, paying special attention to programmes enhancing the integration and development of children and adolescents.

Chilectra Cup

The Chilectra Cup is sponsored by the Enel Group’s electricity distribution company in Santiago de Chile, it is a football competition for both sexes that was born in 2002 with the aim of spreading a clear message among young Chileans: “yes to sport; no to drugs”.

The event takes place in the sporting facilities that are illuminated by the Enel subsidiary as part of its programme to recover public spaces that was created in 1994 and which has equipped more than 160 sports grounds for community use.

More than 60,000 children have participated in this initiative, which has produced players for the Chilean national team, Olympic champions, professional footballers and others who have been signed up by the youth academies of several national clubs.

Other collaborators in the Chilectra Cup include Unicef, the National Service for the Prevention and Rehabilitation of Drug and Alcohol Consumption (SENDA), the Chilean Carabineros and the Iván Zamorano Foundation, which is headed by the ex-Real Madrid striker, who also accompanied the Chilean delegation on their journey to Madrid. In fact, the former Madrid player returned to Madrid to enjoy the prize awarded to the male winners of the Chilectra Cup, which was once again a game against their Real Madrid counterparts.

Codensa Cup in Colombia

This is a football tournament for 13-year-old boys and 15-year-old girls, in which 56 teams take part in a tournament that promotes the formation of values related to sport.

Ampla Cup in Brazil

This socio-sporting school project is developed by the Brazilian Civil Association Little Work of Divine Providence and it was incorporated two years ago, although this was the first year that teams participated in the “Tournament for Integration”.

The Ampla Cup is a championship contested throughout the school year by schools in and around the city of Niterói (Brazil); it is coordinated by the city’s public administration and the Salesians organisation in Brazil. The winning team goes on to take part in the “Tournament for Integration”.
