- Brazís, an Industrial Engineer with specialisation studies at ESADE and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, has spent his entire professional career in the energy sector.
- He is well-known for his professional career in the commercial field, the management of Endesa's Customer Ombudsman Office and the company's institutional relations within the region.
Endesa has appointed Enric Brazís Caubet (Palma de Mallorca, 1969) as the new director of Endesa in Catalonia, taking over from Isabel Buesa, who is retiring after almost ten years at the helm of the company in the region and more than forty years of experience at the leading electricity company in this territory. Over the last decade, Ms Buesa led Endesa's commitment to the energy transition in the region and the company's adaptation to regulatory challenges and new social needs.
Enric Brazís is an industrial engineer with specialization studies at ESADE and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He has been linked to Endesa for twenty-five years and has held positions of responsibility in the commercial area, in the Customer Ombudsman Office and since 2020, has been responsible for the company's Institutional Relations in Catalonia.
He began his professional career at the Catalan Institute of Energy in 1992, collaborating with projects including the development of the first demonstration projects for the use of renewable energies, undertaking energy audits in the tertiary sector and the use of biofuels in vehicles. He held the position of head of the transport and buildings area.
With the beginning of the liberalisation of the electricity sector, in 1999 he joined Endesa in the marketing area and in 2003 he assumed the position of head of key accounts in Catalonia.
Subsequently, he took over the management of Endesa's Customer Ombudsman Office for ten years, where he worked with entities, consumer organisations and consumer bodies. He managed Endesa's membership of the Consumer Arbitration System.
During his time as director of the Customer Ombudsman office at Endesa, he developed an extensive international career. He collaborated in European projects for a number of European Commission programmes and promoted the creation of the European Group of Customer Ombudsmen in the energy sector, of which he was the secretary between 2014 and 2018.
In the last three years he has worked in the Territorial Management of Endesa in Catalonia as Head of Institutional Relations and chief of staff to the previous manager.
"Endesa wants to be a facilitator of the energy transition in Catalonia and a benchmark in renewable projects, to generate value in all its activities and to maintain its commitment as a company that provides an essential service," said the new director. Along these lines, Brazís "considers it key to accompany companies and customers in the decarbonisation process, offering advice and services through the wide network of commercial service channels that Endesa has in Catalonia".
Commitment to Catalonia
Endesa is the leading distribution grid operator in Catalonia, with 43,130 GWh of energy distributed through 100,000 km of network and with more than 4.4 million customers. The distribution network makes it possible to guarantee supply throughout the territory, and to face the challenges of the energy transition (integration of renewables, electrification, energy efficiency and digitalisation).
Endesa's plants account for 50% of the total electricity generation capacity in Catalonia (54 hydroelectric plants with 2,066 MW, 3 nuclear power plants with 2,592 MW, 2 combined cycle plants with 1,271 MW, 2 wind farms with 77 MW). 86% of production is free of CO2 emissions.
The company offers its customers a wide network of commercial service channels: Dedicated account managers for companies and public administrations, 3 commercial offices and 54 service points distributed throughout the region.
Endesa has a team of more than 2,300 direct employees in Catalonia and generates 14,000 indirect jobs. They all work to provide the best service for the company's over 4.4 million customers.
Enric Brazís will be in charge of continuing to lead Endesa's commitment to the energy transition towards a zero-emission model, through decarbonisation and widespread electrification, renewable energies and energy efficiency.
To meet the challenges of the energy transition in Catalonia, more than 800 million euros will be invested in the electricity distribution network between 2024 and 2026, mainly aimed at transforming and digitising its operation, increasing the quality of supply, and promoting the expansion and integration of renewables. In terms of growth in renewable generation, Endesa currently has 700 MW of its own projects underway for new plants in Catalonia. Sustainable mobility is another of the pillars of the energy transition, and the development of charging infrastructures for private and public electric vehicles will continue to be promoted.
