- Participants in the programme have received over-the-phone training in energy efficiency and have been able to adjust their contracts.
- The programme serves as a complement to the agreement between Endesa and the Red Cross on the fight against energy poverty.
51 families in Mallorca have benefited from the energy volunteering programme launched by Endesa and the Endesa Foundation in collaboration with the Red Cross and the Ecology and Development Foundation (Ecodes). Participants have received energy training and have been able to adapt their contracts to secure savings on the energy bill or receive assistance from energy company staff at home.
The programme, in cooperation with the Red Cross and Ecodes, is aimed at households in a situation of energy poverty and consists of three levels of action: customised recommendations for families on the optimisation of their electricity bill and the reduction of energy consumption, including the distribution of micro-efficiency kits; workshops on optimising energy bills and the social bonus; and the identification of risk situations or serious shortcomings in the most vulnerable households.
A total of 38 Red Cross volunteers and 9 Endesa volunteers participated in these actions, making recommendations on efficient consumption, helping to process the social bonus or power changes and assisting with the diagnosis and installation of the micro-efficiency kit.
The programme's actions have focussed on different lines of work. Training activities have been carried out for volunteers and over-the-phone workshops held for families in addition to over-the phone and face-to-face assistance and housing refurbishments.
As part of the training imparted, families have been provided with instructions on understanding their energy bill, information about the social bonus, should they meet the requirements to receive it, and they have been offered practical recommendations on energy efficiency habits and measures.
As a result, it is possible to recommend that users who are Endesa customers change power to reduce costs without harming the quality of their supply, choose a tariff with variable prices according to time bands or explain whether they meet the conditions to benefit from the social bonus.
Specifically, we have worked with:
- 51 families who participated in over-the-phone training, imparted by volunteers from Endesa and the Red Cross.
- 3 families who received in-the-home visits and direct assistance from volunteers, with a review of their electrical installation, replacement of deteriorated windows or purchase of small appliances, as the case may be.
- A total of 51 families who have been provided with savings kits by volunteers and who have been given 30 energy diagnostic reports.
As a result, by the end of these training actions, 51 families have received a package of products that they can install in their homes to improve their energy efficiency: from window insulation and edges to radiator reflectors; strips to prevent devices from remaining on in standby mode, spending energy; energy-saving lightbulbs; "water-saving heads" for taps or insulating strips for the bottom of doors.
These energy volunteering actions are one of Endesa's lines of work in the fight against energy poverty and serves as a complement to the agreement with the Red Cross in this area.
