- With the aim of bringing music to everyone, these two entities have organised this musical experience for the general public, and it will include the 'Workshop of the five winds' prior to the concert and designed specially for children.
- The concert will take place next Saturday 11 at 12 noon at the Templete de Música in El Retiro Park (Madrid), in which the Globo Ensemble wind quintet, together with the screenwriter-presenter Paco Torrent, will perform the work entitled "Aires Tropicales" by the Cuban composer Paquito D'Rivera.
In one of the city of Madrid's most exceptional environments, the Parque de El Retiro, and more specifically, in the Templete de Música, the rhythms and nuances of live music will sound again. Next Saturday 11 July at 12 noon, the Endesa Foundation and the Reina Sofía School of Music, with the collaboration of the Madrid City Council, have organised a free open-air concert entitled 'Aires Tropicales' that is open to everyone and which will be a blend of classical and popular music, Latin and jazz with African rhythms.
'Aires Tropicales' will be performed by the Globo Ensemble wind quintet, created at the Reina Sofía School of Music, together with the scriptwriter-presenter of didactic concerts, Paco Torrent.
This work, composed by the Cuban Paquito D'Rivera takes you on a journey in seven movements through the different rhythms of Caribbean music: It presents the sound of Cuba and the "habanera", moves you to the beat of a Venezuelan waltz and provides the sparkling pulse of bebop. It was also designed with an educational purpose, since the different movements work at an individual level to provide a broad sample of timbres to present to the public the five standard instruments of a wind quintet -flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon- and others that are less common like the piccolo, the G scale flute and the Cor Anglais.
'Aires Tropicales' is a work full of energy, festive atmosphere, and this makes it an ideal piece to connect with people of all ages who will enjoy all the sound colours of the wind instruments which represent those of nature itself. With the aim of making this an enriched experience for the whole family, there will also be a free 'Workshop of the five winds' that will take place prior to the concert, at 11am. The activity is designed for children and will be held in the El Retiro Park itself. It consists of a musical journey that enables children to appreciate music and its instruments, by generating a dialogue with the children by means of playful messages and participatory activities, and which will prepare them to actively listen to the concert that follows. Those interested in taking part should previously book here.

Its members are on the flute Gala Kossakowski (Spain, 1996), on the oboe Elena Benedicto (Spain, 2002), on the clarinet Natacha Correa (Colombia, 1989), on the bassoon Andrea Pérez (Spain, 1992) and Jessica Rueda (Colombia, 1990). They frequently perform educational concerts and participate in projects focussing on the presentation of chamber music, such as "Aires Tropicales" with Paco Torrent, designed for children, and "Women and leadership", focussing on the business world, in collaboration with Álvaro Guibert. Globo Ensemble is also a group that is very aware of new music, with projects that include commissioning music for this group from young composers, and they have already dedicated two works that were premiered in the 18/19 season.
During the 18/19 season they were selected by the Society of Artists, Performers and Players in Spain to participate in a classical music circuit (AIEnRUTA-Clásicos); they also appeared in important festivals that includes the Fringe in Torroella de Montgrí, the Summer Festival of the Community of Madrid and the Autumn Music Festival in the house of flowers (Segovia).
They received master classes from K. Thunneman, J. Kelly, F. Héau, P. Moraguès, S. Dohr, S. Meyer, R. Baborák and others.
