- December begins with the literary event “What are Novels About?” at the Royal Spanish Academy, today, Wednesday. In this event, its academics and writers Soledad Puértolas and Clara Sánchez will reflect on the process of constructing stories, the mechanisms each one uses to create theirs, and the experiences that have shaped their careers.
- Throughout the month, other cultural activities will follow, such as the artistic lighting of the Church of San Andrés Apóstol in Madrid and its Christmas Concert at the Reina Sofía School of Music.
- The proposals combine literature, music, and heritage and will allow people to learn and enjoy different artistic disciplines at the same time.
- Fundación Endesa thus demonstrates its commitment to promoting, preserving, and valuing culture and art in its many forms by bringing them closer to all of society, from the conservation and lighting of historical-artistic heritage to supporting literary and musical projects.
Throughout this month of December, Fundación Endesa brings culture to all audiences with a program of three high-quality cultural initiatives designed to connect art, literature, music, and society. The proposals include a literary talk between Soledad Puértolas and Clara Sánchez at the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), the artistic interior lighting of the Church of San Andrés Apóstol, and the Christmas Concert at the Reina Sofía School of Music. This agenda is part of the work developed by Fundación Endesa in its cultural action line, aiming to facilitate access to top-tier artistic experiences for all audiences.
Literature as the protagonist: Literary Talk at the RAE
Today, Wednesday December 4th, at 7:30 p.m., the Royal Spanish Academy’s headquarters will host a unique literary talk, a result of the collaboration between Fundación Endesa and the Fundación pro-RAE. This event will feature the participation of academics Soledad Puértolas and Clara Sánchez, two key figures in contemporary literature, who will reflect on the novels that have marked their careers and the creative processes behind their works.
The academics will answer diverse questions such as what the first step is in creating a work, where ideas come from, how the "reader self" influences the "author self", and whether training or talent is more important. They will also talk about the experiences that have shaped their literary careers.
Soledad Puértolas and Clara Sánchez will reflect on the process of constructing stories and reveal the mechanisms each uses to build theirs. After all, both have created works that have earned the recognition of critics and audiences and have been awarded multiple times.
The talk is open to the public with limited seating. Registrations are available, and interested parties can still secure their spot through the following link.
Lighting of the Church of San Andrés Apóstol in Madrid
On December 9th, Fundación Endesa will inaugurate the new artistic interior lighting of the Church of San Andrés Apóstol in Madrid, one of the oldest parishes in Madrid, located in the iconic La Latina neighborhood. This artistic lighting project, designed to be unobtrusive, sustainable, and energy-efficient, aims to enhance the architectural beauty of this historic monument, built in the 16th century.
The event will be attended by the Auxiliary Bishop and General Vicar of the Archdiocese of Madrid, Jesús Vidal; the Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida; the President of Endesa and Fundación Endesa, Mr. Juan Sánchez-Calero; and the CEO of Endesa, Mr. José Bogas.
The inauguration will be open to the public, who will be able to see how this new interior lighting, dynamic and digital, allows for the programming of multiple different scenes, with environments for reflection or celebration depending on the liturgical and cultural events held in the temple, while also giving visibility to the architectural ensemble of the building. A Christmas carol concert will add a musical and festive touch to the event.
Christmas Concert at the Reina Sofía School of Music
Fundación Endesa will hold its Christmas concert next Wednesday, December 11th, at the Sony Auditorium of the Reina Sofía School of Music.
The recital will be performed by young artists from this prestigious school and will offer a repertoire including classical pieces by composers such as Händel, Bach, and Puccini, along with a selection of traditional Christmas carols.
Commitment to culture
Fundación Endesa continues its work to promote, recover, and preserve culture and art by launching initiatives that not only preserve historical-artistic heritage but also foster access to culture for all audiences.
