- The construction of the three wind power plants – Campillo I, II and III – by Endesa's renewable subsidiary, Enel Green Power España, will mean an investment of 252.6 million euros.
The construction in Cuenca of the three wind plants by Endesa's renewable subsidiary, Enel Green Power España, is already fully underway, with more than 120 professionals working in Campillo I, II, III, in the towns of Campillo de Altobuey, Enguídanos, Puebla del Salvador, Minglanilla, Castillejo de Iniesta and Iniesta.
In total, the plants will employ about 350 people at their peak of activity, predictably in spring, especially local labour, since this is one of the company's commitments for its operations. Currently, 35% of the people building these plants are from the area, while another 10 local companies are generating employment indirectly thanks to Endesa's activity in Cuenca.
Endesa is also promoting one training course for the renewable energy operation and maintenance phase, which will be imparted to a total of 160 people from the plant's vicinity, in order to qualify local labour in the growing sector of renewable energy.
Construction of these plants will follow the concept of sustainable construction site, i.e. all waste will be recycled; and the two worksites will have 2 defibrillators installed, a 10 KW photovoltaic kit, low-consumption lighting, an electric vehicle charger and a water tank to collect rainfall in the area. All these elements will then be donated to the local communities, thus applying the principle of circular economy from the very outset of the projects.
In addition, the Campillo wind farms are trailblazers in terms of the execution of the project since a "partnership" has been signed with the companies responsible for the works. This partnership promotes communication and collaboration between the different contractors and EGPE, seeking to leverage synergies and share ideas and experiences. This collaboration will result in improved health and safety, a reduction of risks and extra costs and will even improve the time frame for executing the project.
When they become operational half way through this year, Campillo I, II and III will generate approximately 660 GWh per year, which represents more than double the annual consumption of a city like Cuenca. To undertake this project, which will also have three electrical substations and two high-voltage lines, we have been in continuous dialogue with the main local representatives and the competent authorities, in order to reach an agreement on how the works will be carried out while minimising the environmental impact and maximising the social impact.
Endesa currently manages, through EGPE, 8,389 MW of renewable capacity installed in Spain, including: 4,672 MW of conventional hydraulic power; 2,546 MW of wind power, 1,097 MW of solar power, and 75 MW of mini-hydraulic power.
