Endesa, through its subsidiary Endesa Generación Portugal, has been awarded a 42 MVA connection right at the first floating solar auction for reservoirs on the Iberian peninsula, entitling the firm to install a floating photovoltaic solar energy project on the Alto do Rabagão reservoir in Portugal.
The award to Endesa will involve an investment of EUR 115 million to develop the first project for the company of its kind.
"Endesa remains committed to Portugal, after the winning project for the Fair Transition Contest in Pego, we will invest in this innovative renewable production project for floating solar power", asserted Endesa's General Manager for Generation, Rafael González.
This is Endesa's second award in Portugal in a short period of time, following the tender recently won in Pego, on which the company is now working. This project hybridises renewable technologies, storage and green hydrogen, all with a high social component, involving an investment of EUR 600 million.
