- Representing a total investment of 3.03 million euros, the new authorised plant in Alcudia is located in the Polígono de Ca na Lloreta, with a total power of 3.90 MWp and an expected production of 6.32 GWh/year.
- Construction is estimated to involved an average of 16 workers/week, reaching a peak of 66.
- Training courses have been planned in renewable plants in the municipalities of Palma, Llucmajor and Alcudia. These courses have been organised in collaboration with the municipalities and aim to improve employability in new technologies.
Endesa, through its renewables division Enel Green Power España (EGPE), has received administrative authorisation for the construction of the new Ca na Lloreta solar plant, in the municipality of Alcudia, on the island of Mallorca.
This is a milestone for Endesa which remains committed to the development of renewable capacity with a view to electrifying demand and completely decarbonising the economy. Representing a total investment of 3.03 million euros, the new authorised plant in Alcudia is located in the Polígono de Ca na Lloreta; it has a total power of 3.90 MWp, consisting of 8,874 bifacial monocrystalline panels of 440 W capacity each, and an expected production of 6.32 GWh/year.
Work on the new Ca na Lloreta plant is now beginning and the plant is estimated to come into operation in the second half of 2022. This is one of a set of projects that also include Sa Caseta, Biniatria, Son Reus and Son Orlandis, located in the Balearic Islands, with a total power of 56.6 MWp and co-financed by ERDF funds, with a total investment of ~47 million euros. Sa Caseta, with a power of 21.83 MWp, and Biniatria, with a power of 14.97 MWp, are already in production, while Son Reus and Son Orlandis are under construction.
Construction of the Ca na Lloreta plant is estimated to involve an average of 16 workers/week, reaching a peak of 66 workers.
Enel Green Power España has adopted a "Creating Shared Value" approach in its attempt to incorporate priorities and needs into its business strategy with the aim of improving the economic and social conditions of the local environment in which it operates. This involves designing a sustainable support plan for the engineering and construction of this project which includes the following actions:
The social and environmental actions feature the training of people for the purpose of improving their employability in a sector with great potential in the area. Courses on the operation and maintenance of renewable plants will be held and recruitment of local workers will be encouraged.
Training courses have been planned in renewable plants in the municipalities of Palma, Alcudia and Llucmajor. These courses will be organised in collaboration with the municipalities by means of a framework contract with a training company. It should be noted that the course on operation of renewable plants began in February in the municipality of Llucmajor.
Endesa currently manages a renewable capacity of more than 7,452 MW in Spain through EGPE. Of this total, 4,711 MW correspond to conventional hydroelectric generation; and the remaining 2,741 MW to wind energy (2,307 MW), solar energy (352 MW), small hydro (79 MW) and other renewable sources (3 MW).
Enel Green Power, a part of the Enel Group, is engaged in the development and operation of renewable energy production worldwide, with operations in Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Oceania. Enel Green Power is a global leader in green energy and has installed capacity of more than 46 GW with a generation mix that includes wind, solar, geothermal and hydroelectric power. It is spearheading the integration of innovative technology at its renewable energy plants.
