Pedro Duque, acting Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, visited the Endesa stand at COP 25 and highlighted the importance and the need for collaboration between private companies and public institutions in the fight against Climate Change. "It is a task in which we must all collaborate", he said.
At the stand, Duque had the opportunity to get to know some Sustainability initiatives that Endesa is carrying out. These included the smart cities eCity project in Seville, the employee mobility plan, and Endesa Forest. He collaborated in the latter by planting a tree through the APP installed in the stand which will be reflected in reality by the planting of 10,000 trees in three areas of Teruel to be reforested.
In addition, he expressed his pride on the organization of COP25 in Madrid in such a short period of time.
Endesa Forest is a forest restoration project involving the restoration of degraded and burned land in the territory of the Iberian Peninsula through direct sowing techniques and the planting of native forest species. This initiative, which covers the different areas of sustainability - environmental, economic and social - is a pioneering project, being the first from a company in the energy sector to obtain registration in the CO₂ sinks section of the Carbon footprint, compensation and absorption registry projects of the Spanish Office of Climate Change (OECC) of the Ministry for Ecological Transition (MITECO).
