- It will become the highest-power charging space that Endesa has in Catalonia, with 1.6 MW, and the second in Spain, behind Ciudad de la Imagen, in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid, with 1.8 MW.
- When the construction works are completed, Parc Vallès shopping center will have up to 30 charging spaces with different technologies: 8 ultra-fast charging at 300 kW, 6 fast charging at 60 kW, and 16 semi-fast charging at 22 kW.
- It will be the largest 300 kW ultra-fast charging hub in a shopping center in Catalonia. Its location is strategic, as it not only facilitates charging for shopping center visitors but is also very close to high-capacity communication routes.
- It will comply with regulations that require the installation of charging points in certain public access spaces, including shopping centers.
- This is the third charging station of this type that Endesa is building in Catalonia and the first in the Barcelona region.
The works for Endesa's second largest charging hub in Spain are already underway. This new reference electric vehicle charging space will be located in the Parc Vallès shopping center, a reference shopping center in Terrassa and the Vallès Occidental region, and very close to Barcelona (just 27 km away).
With 30 charging points and 1.6 MW of power, it will be the second largest charging hub by power in Spain for Endesa, just behind the one in Ciudad de la Imagen (Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid), with 1.8 MW. And, undoubtedly, the largest charging space for Endesa in Catalonia, where the company also has other reference spaces for electric mobility, such as the Andamur hub in La Junquera (Girona) or the recently inaugurated one at the foot of the A2 radial inside the Eurotrak service area (Lleida).
The 300 kW ultra-fast chargers are the star of the project, with up to 8 charging spaces, but the goal to facilitate electric mobility goes beyond that. Once the works are completed, Parc Vallès will have a total of 30 charging spaces from Endesa with different technologies, from semi-fast to ultra-fast, so the offering will be broad and varied.
When the works are finished, there will be a total of 8 ultra-fast charging points up to 300 kW; 6 fast charging points up to 60 kW; and another 16 semi-fast charging points at 22 kW. Currently, 10 of the semi-fast charging points are already operational, allowing users to charge 80% of their electric vehicle's battery in approximately 2 to 4 hours, depending on the battery capacity and the car's charging power. With this first phase, carried out last year, the goal was to provide Parc Vallès with a good first semi-fast charging service and do so as quickly as possible so visitors could connect and charge their cars while enjoying the solid and extensive entertainment, dining, and services offered by the shopping center.
Now, they are taking it a step further by deploying different and more powerful technologies to offer ultra-fast charges between 5 and 15 minutes, and fast charges between 30-60 minutes. This way, different charging speeds (ultra-fast, fast, and semi-fast) are combined in the same location, so every electric vehicle user can choose according to their needs or preferences.
Daniel Ortiz, Director of Electric Mobility at Endesa, wanted to highlight that "electric cars represent a change in mindset, because they can be charged in many places, not just at service stations like combustion cars. Our goal for over a decade, and this new facility confirms it, is to be facilitators of electric car charging and to do so where users need it, always offering convenient and strategic locations."
In this sense, the Parc Vallès shopping center is located next to high-capacity communication routes, as it is very close to Barcelona; also very close to the C-58 and C-16 roads connecting Barcelona with the Vallès Occidental, and further north, with Bages, Berguedà, and Cerdanya, as well as the newly inaugurated B-40, which connects the Vallès region with Baix Llobregat and, by extension, with neighboring regions.
According to Núria Gàndara, Manager of Parc Vallès, "a few months ago we finished significant remodeling works at Parc Vallès that have allowed us to open new comfort spaces with the goal of making the visitors' stay more emotional and experiential, expanding greenery, children's areas, rest zones, etc. The next step was to increase the charging points for electric vehicles from 10 to 30, thus offering a complete experience.” Gàndara adds: “We want to contribute to the expansion of public charging infrastructure, attracting new visitors and increasing visit frequency and length of stay."
Parc Vallès obtained the BREEAM Certification in 2023 and, after the remodeling works, at the beginning of 2024, the Biosphere Certification, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable construction, tourism, management, and development.
Charging Solutions
With this new opening, Endesa continues its commitment to facilitating electric mobility for all users, not just in cities with all types of charging adapted for various uses in parking lots, shopping centers, restaurants, hotels, hospitals, etc.; but also betting on ultra-fast charging on highways that allows users to have no doubts when making long-distance trips. In fact, Endesa, as part of its public charging infrastructure development plan, has deployed more than 5,800 charging points across Spain with all technologies (more than 1,400 in Catalonia). Of the total, over 40% are fast or ultra-fast technologies, both in urban environments and along highways. Of the total, around 700 points are ultra-fast technology with powers between 150 kW and 350 kW, most of which are located near highways.
Endesa's goal for the coming years remains to expand the charging network, supporting market development and providing charging solutions to customers wherever needed. Endesa will continue to install charging points of all powers, mainly fast and ultra-fast, in a deployment plan that aims to consider all usage habits.
