- The company has optimised its corporate fleet, reducing the number of vehicles by 18% compared to 2015, and it has also undertaken an electrification process in all business areas: 51% are already sustainable.
- 10% of vehicles are pure electric vehicles (BEVs). In 2016 it was 3%. The largest increase in electrification was made with regard to plug-in hybrids (PHEV), from 1% to 35%.
- Emissions have been reduced by 40% in the last seven years by reducing the preponderance of combustion-engine vehicles: They used to represent almost 80% of the total and now this is down to 49%.
- Endesa's commitment to the electrification of its vehicle fleet is part of the company's Sustainable and Safe Mobility Plan, which contains 23 actions to promote sustainable mobility with regard to employees, fleets, suppliers, customers and society in general.
Half of Endesa's corporate fleet (operational, commercial and representation) is already electrified. This means that the company has reached the objective established three years ago in its Sustainable Mobility Plan as an example of its commitment to promoting a new energy culture based on the electrification of demand and efficient and responsible consumption. The company has achieved this by incorporating into its fleet more than 200 pure electric vehicles, more than 700 plug-in hybrids; and a hybrid fleet consisting of 128 units. This has enabled a reduction of 40% in the corporate fleet's emissions during the last seven years.
"In 2008, Endesa was already a pioneer in this type of action, introducing 450 hybrid (non-plug-in) vehicles for commercial work. It was the first significant step towards electrification. And by constantly optimising the fleet, together with our commitment to reduce emissions, we have achieved the goal we set ourselves three years ago. We will continue along this path and by 2025 we want this figure to exceed 60%," said Pablo Samaura, Endesa's head of corporate mobility management.
Endesa currently has more than 2,000 corporate vehicles and of these, 10% are pure electric, when in 2016 they represented barely 3%. If we add the total capacity of all 100% electric vehicles (BEV only), this represents a storage capacity of 11.19 MWh or in other words, the amount of energy that can provide electricity for an average of almost 3,400 homes for one hour.
The largest increase in electrification was made with regard to plug-in hybrids (PHEV), from 1% to 35%. Combustion-engine vehicles, which used to represent 79% in 2016, now only represent 49% in 2022.
Sustainable and Safe Mobility Plan
A commitment to the electrification of the fleet is part of the company's Sustainable and Safe Mobility Plan, a plan that encourages the rational use of transport and seeks to promote those initiatives that encourage alternatives to conventional transport and changes towards more sustainable and safer transport for employees and fleets, as well as promoting the use of electric transport.
