- The Mayor of Seville has inaugurated one of the largest charging centres in the Andalusian community, in terms of size and charging possibilities, accompanied by representatives of TORRE SEVILLA, CaixaBank and Endesa.
- The city's electric mobility will be further promoted with 20 new charging stations, 6 ultra-fast charging stations and 14 semi-fast charging stations. They are available 24 hours a day in XXL parking spaces and also have an exclusive space for customers with reduced mobility.
- In addition to the newly inaugurated charging stations, TORRE SEVILLA will add 10 more charging stations for subscribers to its electric mobility offer together with Endesa, reiterating its commitment to sustainability and care for the environment.
- Endesa has 213 public charging points in Seville, 92 of which are for fast and ultra-fast charging, to support the worldwide transformation towards sustainable mobility for all users and to electrify transportation throughout Spain.
The mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, the Chairman of TORRE SEVILLA, Jordi Soldevila, the Territorial Manager of CaixaBank in Andalusia, Juan Ignacio Zafra, the General Manager of Endesa in Andalusia, Extremadura, Ceuta and Melilla, Rafael Sánchez Durán, and the Manager of BD, Sales & Marketing Iberia of Endesa's mobility area, Manuel Muñoz, today inaugurated the new electric vehicle charging hub that Endesa has opened in TORRE SEVILLA, one of the largest charging centres in Andalusia in terms of scale and charging capacity.
This new hub has 20 chargers, with the capacity to expand when demand requires it. This charging station is available 24 hours a day and has very comfortable parking spaces thanks to its large dimensions, as well as an exclusive space for people with reduced mobility.
TORRE SEVILLA will further expand its electric mobility offer together with Endesa with 10 new charging stations for subscribers that will be installed in the second half of 2024, offering an additional service to the companies of La Torre and helping them to participate in this commitment to sustainability and care for the environment.
The Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, thanked the promoters "for their commitment to installing this electric vehicle charging hub in our city" given that "from today, electric mobility in the city will be further promoted with these new charging stations that will be available 24 hours a day". He added that "this initiative places Seville as one of the most advanced capitals in terms of electric mobility and, precisely, sustainability is one of the priorities of this government team".
Mr Sanz also announced that "the City Council is working in this same direction and soon more than 30 charging stations distributed throughout all districts will be put into operation". He pointed out that "most of these points are in La Cartuja, a business, technological and scientific park that is home to more than 560 companies, generates a turnover of more than €4,000 million, provides jobs for 30,000 people in Seville, as well as being a pioneer for electric mobility which is a priority for the City Council of Seville".
"We are very pleased that a company like Endesa, a benchmark in investment in sustainable mobility, has opted for TORRE SEVILLA to install one of the largest electric vehicle charging stations in Andalusia, thus helping us to fulfil our commitment to sustainability and care for the environment and further increasing the comfort of our installations", Jordi Soldevila pointed out.
The Territorial Manager of CaixaBank in Andalusia, Juan Ignacio Zafra, was very satisfied with this initiative resulting from an agreement between Endesa and TORRE SEVILLA "which for CaixaBank represents the promotion of an economy that has a positive impact on people's well-being; and an example of the social value of the projects in which we participate and why we are the leading Spanish bank with regard to sustainability".
Endesa's General Manager for Andalusia, Extremadura, Ceuta and Melilla pointed out that the expansion of charging options for electric mobility in TORRE SEVILLA "reaffirms our commitment to sustainability, which in this environment we have strengthened with the launch of the eCitySevilla project, in which TORRE SEVILLA participates, a benchmark for how cities will need to be by mid-century based on a decarbonised, decentralised, and digital energy model, where electric mobility plays an essential role."
In this context "today we have given a significant boost to sustainable mobility in the city as a result of the confidence placed in us by Torre Sevilla and CaixaBank, with twenty new electric vehicle charging stations with advanced technology, together with the 213 public chargers that Endesa has already installed in Seville and that we intend to continue expanding, with priority given to fast and ultra-fast chargers, in accordance with the needs and habits of users, all in conjunction with the Seville City Council".
This new charging network is added to the existing infrastructure of superchargers and fast charging points at TORRE SEVILLA, which offers a complete service to all existing electric vehicle brands.
It should also be noted that the complex, located in a main business, tourist and cultural hub such as the Isla de La Cartuja, is an essential part of the eCitySevilla project, led by Endesa together with the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Seville City Council and the La Cartuja Scientific and Technological Park, to turn this Park into a benchmark for sustainability at an international level and a model for urban energy transition by means of an energy supply with guaranteed 100% renewable origin, efficient construction, the promotion of sustainable electric mobility and the digitalisation of all processes.
Charging speed
Of the 20 charging stations that have been inaugurated, 6 are for ultra-rapid charging, with up to 150 kW of direct current (DC) power and European CCS Combo standard connectors, and the remaining 14 are for semi-fast charging, that is, with 22 kW of alternating current (AC) and Type 2 connectors. The entire hub is available 24 hours a day and has XXL parking spaces, as well as an exclusive area for customers with disabilities.
With this technology, vehicles charging at this hub will be able to charge their batteries to make an additional journey of about 100 kilometres in just 5-7 minutes using the ultra-fast chargers and 1 hour with the semi-fast chargers, always depending on the charging power of the electric vehicle and the percentage of battery it has at the time of recharging. A waiting time during which customers can enjoy shopping, leisure, gastronomy, culture and 360º views from the lookout point.
Any electric vehicle will be able to use this type of charger with these characteristics, although it will be the vehicle's own characteristics that ultimately determine the power and therefore the recharging speed at which they can be used.
How to use the chargers?
As for the recharging process, the service can be used and paid for efficiently through the Endesa recharging App. All users need to do is to download the App on their mobile phone and choose the tariff that best suits their needs. They will also be able to manage the recharging of their electric vehicle directly from their mobile phone and access advanced functions such as reserving charging points 15 minutes in advance or planning routes with the optimal charging station itinerary, as well as keeping up to date with promotions and service notifications. Likewise, Endesa also provides users with a personal card (RFID) that they receive at home when they subscribe to the app and which, once linked, is forever linked to the app and can be used at any charging point.
The App is available on both iOS and Android and users can register directly using their Facebook or Google account and even iCloud, in the case of iPhone, or by entering an e-mail address. The registration process to use the application is optional and there is always the option to use it at charging stations without prior registration and to pay directly with a credit card associated with the App.
Recharging all over Spain
Endesa's network consists of more than 5,500 charging stations with public access, 40% of which use fast or ultra-fast technology, both in urban and highway environments, and of these more than 1,000 are in the eight Andalusian provinces.
Of the total, more than 600 stations have ultra-fast charging points with capacities between 150 kW and 350 kW and are mostly located in areas close to main roads. The focus continues to be on continuing to extend the network, keeping pace with the market and providing charging solutions where they are needed
Endesa has installed 213 public charging points in Seville, 92 of which are for fast and ultra-fast charging, to support the worldwide transformation towards sustainable mobility for all users and to electrify transportation throughout Spain.
Endesa's goal for the coming years is to continue installing charging points of all powers, especially fast and ultra-fast, a deployment plan that seeks to take into account all customers' usage habits. The development of electric mobility is, today, one of the fundamental pillars within Endesa's strategic plan.
