The Spanish Primer Minister, Mariano Rajoy, between Antonio Gramendi, president of Cepyme (on his right), and Javier Uriarte, Endesa’s General Manager of Marketing, delivered the Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Award to Ramiro Reyes Aguirre, head of ISMA 2000.
- The Majorca-based company involved in end-to-end paper production (from recycling raw material to product manufacturing) saved €590,000 in 2016 year-on-year through energy saving measures put in place.
- The award is one of the prizes conferred by the Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises (Cepyme) to the best SMEs.
Endesa has recognised ISMA 2000 for its energy efficiency and sustainability efforts, following an analysis of the measures taken by the company in 2016 enabling it to save close to €600,000 year-on-year. ISMA 2000 manufactures paper products (including toilet rolls, serviettes and tissues) in Majorca, and Endesa wanted to recognise the company’s efforts by naming it the best SME for energy saving. The award was for both for the reduction in emissions achieved (27% compared to the previous year) and for the savings made (3.2% less electricity and 32% less gas consumed). The competition ran from 20 April to 31 July 2017, with 167 companies submitting 323 individual projects.
The award was presented by Endesa’s General Manager of Marketing, Javier Uriarte, to Ramiro Reyes Aguirre, head of ISMA 2000, at the Cepyme awards ceremony recognising the work of small and medium enterprises in Spain every year. The Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, attended the event along with executives from much of the country’s industry; key to generating jobs and driving economic and social development.
