- This collaboration has enabled the Foundation’s energy efficiency targets to be met, saving costs and energy while also increasing the quality of the lighting in the work areas.
- The Juan XXIII Foundation is the first charitable initiative selected by the Energy Efficiency Platform, for which Endesa and Phillips are founding members and which aims to find comprehensive energy saving solutions.
Endesa and Phillips have helped the Juan XXIII Foundation’s special employment centre for disabled people to use 40% less energy thanks to a more efficient lighting system. Endesa launched this project together with Phillips, with the aim of finding comprehensive energy saving solutions in charitable organisations.
Endesa and Phillips carried out a personalised study of the lighting situation in the Juan XXII Foundation’s special employment centre for disabled persons. This analysis identified 419 light fittings that were replaced with LED technology, which has not only enabled energy consumption to be reduced but also the maintenance costs for the installations (due to a longer useful life of LED technology), thus improving the visual comfort of these areas and creating a more suitable ambience for carrying out tasks in these areas.
This is the first charitable project selected by the Energy Efficiency Platform, for which Endesa and Phillips are founding members. Last year Bayer and Cemex joined the eight founding members: Endesa, Cepsa, Phillips Ibérica, Renfe, Meliá, Telefónica, Toyota España and Unibail Rodamco España.
The aim of the Platform, promoted by Endesa in 2011, is to bring companies from different sectors together that share the same concerns: a genuine interest in developing initiatives aimed at energy efficiency and the protection of the environment. It intends to become a point of reference in Spain for issues related to energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. Accordingly, apart from specific initiatives carried out by each company, collaboration agreements are also encouraged between companies with the aim of unifying synergies and promoting research in this area, as is the case with the Juan XXII Foundation.
