- One year ago in the Costa de Huelva Andalusian Cooperative Society Endesa X installed a photovoltaic self-consumption and storage plant that has enabled it to produce its own energy and replace the consumption of diesel oil in two generators.
Endesa, through its subsidiary Endesa X, and CoopHuelva (Costa de Huelva Andalusian Cooperative Society) began working together a year ago to make their installations in Huelva more efficient and sustainable.
To achieve this, Endesa X installed in the infrastructures of CoopHuelva in Lucena del Puerto a 400 KW photovoltaic self-consumption plant that replaced some of the energy that until now CoopHuelva had generated from two diesel generators. During the year it has been in operation, this installation has supplied approximately 552 MWh of energy to the premises of CoopHuelva.
The new photovoltaic plant has also assisted in the product handling and packaging installations with an 80 kWh capacity storage system. Both systems have enabled more than 30% of the installation's energy consumption requirements to be met with renewable energy.
In the time it has been operational, this infrastructure has reduced the consumption of diesel fuel by 132,000 litres, thus avoiding the emission into the atmosphere of 296 tons of CO2 per year, equivalent to the planting of more than 15,000 trees. During the useful life of the installation, the replacement of consumption from generators will result in a potential saving of more than 1.5 million euros. CoopHuelva has become a benchmark for its sector in the province, and together with Endesa they are continuing to work along the path of efficiency and sustainability.
