- Endesa is the only Spanish energy company to once again obtain the triple seal from the Spanish Office of Climate Change.
- In 2020, Endesa reduced its emissions by 70% compared to 2015 and by more than 80% compared to 2005.
- With the new Strategic Plan for 2022-2024, Endesa has updated its commitment to energy transition to become a totally emission-free company by 2040.
Endesa is the only company in the Spanish energy sector that has maintained the "Calculate+Reduce+Compensate" triple seal for four consecutive years. This seal is awarded by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge and it requires the company to be voluntarily included in the Carbon Footprint Registry.
The company was first included in the Carbon Footprint Registry in 2013 and has since demonstrated that its emissions have been reduced based on the criteria established by the Spanish Office for Climate Change. Since 2016, the "Calculate" and "Reduce" seals have been activated, and with the registration of the carbon footprint in 2017 the "Compensate" seal was activated; a recognition that has been renewed every year since 2018.
In 2020, the year in which the climate emergency was declared in Spain, Endesa closed the year with a historic fall in emissions, a 70% reduction since the adoption of the Paris Agreement in 2015 and more than 80% since 2005, the year when the Kyoto Protocol came into force.
As a result of this commitment to the fight against climate change, in 2021 Endesa renewed for the eighth consecutive year its registration in the Carbon Footprint Registry, compensation and carbon dioxide absorption projects, registering a carbon footprint corresponding to 2020.
The "Bosque Endesa" initiative is a great ally when it comes to offsetting the emissions associated with fuel consumption by vehicles, their life cycle and the waste from the company's photovoltaic plants.
These seals, awarded by the Spanish Office for Climate Change of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, distinguish those organisations that not only calculate their greenhouse gas emissions, but also have a plan for their reduction and compensation.
