Generating electricity from renewable energies is one of the cornerstones of the energy transition. Integrating renewable projects into their local environment is key to driving economic development and creating shared value with local communities.

Electricity generation from renewable sources is a key pillar of the energy transition and one of our core commitments as we move toward a sustainable energy model.
Through our renewable energy subsidiary, Enel Green Power España (EGPE), we currently manage 10.2 GW of installed renewable capacity in Spain.
In our 2025–2027 Strategic Plan, we have strengthened our commitment to clean energy as a key driver of decarbonisation. Up to 3 GW of new capacity will be added during this period, bringing the total installed renewable capacity to 13.1 GW by 2027.
Additionally, our focus on repowering, both in wind and hydro sectors, will enhance the efficiency of these plants and lower generation costs.
88% of our electricity generation on the Peninsula is already emissions-free. This ambitious project to decarbonise our electricity generation will enable us to become a totally emission-free company by 2040, with 100% of our generation linked to renewable sources.
We apply a shared value creation (SVC) model to the construction, maintenance, and operation of renewable plants that incorporates the priorities and needs of local communities into the business strategy.
This model enhances the operating efficiency and the sustainable approach of the projects by promoting social, environmental, and energy efficiency measures in the towns around the plants. Therefore, every project represents an opportunity for economic, social, and environmental development for local communities.
Each renewable facility we develop includes a shared value creation plan designed in collaboration with local stakeholders and based on three main lines of action:
The construction phase of each project is carried out with the lowest possible environmental impact by voluntarily adopting measures such as solar power for site offices, water reuse systems, energy-efficient lighting, and electric vehicles. Many of these elements are later donated to the municipality.
