How to understand your Endesa bill in 90 seconds
Now for contracted powers of less than 10kW, VAT is 5% while for higher powers it continues to be 21%.
Electricity bill Endesa
1. Identification of the company that issues your bill, your Reseller Company
This section shows the logo, corporate name, tax identification number and registered address of Endesa Energía, your Reseller Company. It also informs you that it is an electricity bill.
2. Electricity bill details
Here you will find all the details that identify this bill and which you will need should you have any queries concerning the bill.
- Bill number: tax identification number for this bill.
- Reference: this is the code for this bill. It is made up of the contract number, followed by the relevant bill sequence number.
- Bill issue date: the date on which this bill was issued.
- Billing period: time interval billed.
- If you pay by direct debit, it shows the date on which your bill will be charged to your account.
- If you do not pay by direct debit, it shows the deadline for paying this bill.
3. Name and address of the bill receiver
This includes the personal details (name and address) of the contract titleholder; the person that receives the bill.

4. Bill summary and payment details
This shows a summary of the items billed and the total sum of your bill. You will find an explanation of how each item is calculated on the back of your bill (page 2 of 4) in the Bill itemisation section.
- Contracted power: total sum that you pay for your contracted power: the power you should contract depends on the type of electrical installation you have and how you use your electrical appliances in your home or business premises. The power has a fixed price, regardless of consumption.
- Energy consumed: total sum that you pay for the energy consumed, i.e., for your electricity consumption.
- Electricity tax: this is the tax applied to electricity by the Ministry of Industry.
- Lease of metering and controlling equipment: this outlines the cost of renting the metering and controlling equipment.
- Applicable tax: VAT is applied (Value Added Tax) or IGIC (Canary Island General Indirect Tax) as applicable.
- Total Bill Amount: this is the total amount to be paid including taxes.
Also, depending on the specific invoice or the tariff you have contracted, other items may appear:
- Regularisation and other items: this item includes costs associated with possible regularisations.
- Contracting rights: this is the cost corresponding to extension and access rights.
You will also find information on your payment method:
- If you pay by direct debit: you will be informed of the account number where the amount for your invoice will be charged and the date when you will be charged.
- If you do not pay by direct debit: the barcode will appear for you to pay over the bank counter.
5. Power consumption information
Here you will find all the detailed information you require on your electricity consumption:
- Invoicing period: the dates and number of days to which the amount of the Endesa invoice corresponds.
- Consumption during the period in kWh: which is the consumption made during the invoiced period and is calculated as the difference between the current reading and the previous reading. Depending on your tariff, your consumption can be broken down into the different invoicing concepts into which your electricity contract is divided.
- Price per kWh: indicates the average cost of kWh for your electricity consumption and where the different variations are taken into account, in the case of tariffs by time band, or discounts and promotions for free hours of electricity consumption.
- Graph with how your consumption has progressed: graphical view of your consumption over the past 14 months, including monthly information and the annual average for your electricity bill with Endesa.
- Maximum powers demanded: indicates the maximum power in kW you have demanded in the last year, both in off-peak and peak hours.
- Daily expenditure in electricity: with this information that enables to understand your consumption better, we can tell you how much electricity you use in this bill and the average you have paid for electricity over the last 14 months invoiced.
- Consumption during the last year: the total number of kWh of electricity you have consumed in the last 12 months in your Endesa bills.

7. Contract details
This section includes the main details of the contract titleholder and other details of interest concerning your contract:
- The main data for the holder of the contract: name and Tax ID Nº.
- Address of the point of supply: Postal address of the contract for this invoice.
- Free market contract: This is the name of the electricity tariff that you have contracted with Endesa to which this invoice corresponds.
- Contracted powers: The value in kW of the powers currently contracted, both for the off-peak and the peak period.
- Unified Point of Supply Code (CUPS): This is a unique code that identifies your point of supply. It is headed by the sequence "ES" followed by another 20 characters, numbers or letters. This is the data you will have to provide in case you have to make a query regarding your invoice or contract.
- Minimum duration and end date for minimum duration: If there is a minimum duration it will be indicated with "Yes" and underneath the end date for this.
- Meter number: This is the number that identifies the meter that the Distributor uses to measure the energy consumed.
- Supply contract reference number: Contract number with Endesa Energía.
- Retailer: The name of the retailer (with whom you have a contract), in this case, Endesa Energía S.A.U.
- Distributor: The name of the Distributor (the company that supplies your home or premises with electricity)
- Access Contract Reference: The number of the contract with the Distributor.
- Transport and distribution tariff: This is the tariff paid by the Retailer to the Distributor for the use of their distribution network. This tariff is set by the Government and in the case of domestic users and for businesses with a power of less than 15kW it is called the 2.0TD tariff (add link).
- Charge segmentation: The segment in which your supply type is located for other regulated charges (other than tariffs). An example of these charges is production in electrical systems in non-mainland Spain territories, the electricity system deficit and waste treatment.
- End of supply contract: The date on which this contract ends. This date is just a reminder and for your information. The contract is renewed annually and automatically unless otherwise indicated.
8. Bill itemisation
This section explains and outlines all the billed items and amounts:
1. Billing for contracted power:
This is the amount you pay for your contracted power. It is calculated by multiplying the contracted kW by the kW price of your tariff and by the number of days included in the billing period. This amount includes and outlines items billed for the access toll, which is the payment made for using the distribution networks.
2. Billing for energy consumed:
Total sum you pay for the energy consumed. This is obtained by multiplying the kW consumed during the billing period by the kWh price of the contracted tariff. This amount includes and outlines items billed for the access toll, which is the payment made for using the distribution networks.
The sum of the items outlined in points 1 and 2 of is reflected in the 1st Subtotal.
Below is a list of other items:
3. Discounts: if you have a discount on the fixed or variable price depending on your contracted tariff.
4. Servicios: si tienes algún servicio contratado.
5. Electricity taxes: this is the tax applied to electricity as established by the Government. It is calculated via a pre-established formula.
6. Lease of metering and controlling equipment: this is the sum that is paid for the lease of the meter. If you own this equipment, you shall not be charged for this item.
The sum of the items outlined in points 3, 4 and 5 is reflected in the 2nd Subtotal (other items).
The sum of the two subtotals gives the total amount.
7. VAT or IGIC is applied: this is the tax applied to electricity as established by the Government.
The TOTAL BILL AMOUNT: this is the total amount to be paid.
9. How are bill payments used?
Here is a breakdown graph detailing the total amount for your bill and in what percentage:
- Energy: The share of the total for contracted power and electricity consumption during the invoicing period.
- Meter hire: In case you do not own a meter, this is the percentage of the invoice you pay to hire one.
- Taxes: These are the taxes paid to the Government for VAT or IGIC on the invoice and for electricity tax.
- Transport and distribution tariffs: Percentage assigned to the distributor for the maintenance and improvement of the Electricity Grid in Spain.
- Charges, broken down into:
- Remuneration for renewables, cogeneration and
- Waste (RECORE) 49.35%
- Deficit 36.86%
- Generation in non-mainland territories (TNT) 13.66%
- Other 0.13%
At the bottom you will find information on electricity consumption for the purposes of the billing the tolls and charges in the different time periods.
10. Consumer information
In the "Consumer information" section in your electricity bill you will find a QR code that links to the CNMC energy offer comparer.
11. Information on your product
This includes important information on the product you have contracted: End date for the contract, regulatory issues, price modifications, etc.

If you have questions about your contract or bill, you will need the contract number that appears on your bill in the Contract Data section (the Contract Reference).
13. Customised and exclusive offers for you
Your bill may include a number of adverts that have been customised and are exclusive to you. They will be different depending on the different promotions that Endesa has in force at the time of issuing your invoice.
14. Bill for services
This section shows the amount for additional services that you may have contracted with Endesa, such as technical assistance.
If you have not contracted any services, this section will not appear on your Endesa electricity bill.
15. Information about the electricity you consume, its origin and environmental impact
This includes official information on the origin of the energy consumed during the previous year, its impact on the environment and information on the source of publication.
16. Solar panels: How does this appear on your electricity bill?
If you have solar panels installed, part of the energy you consume comes from them and means a significant saving on your bill. If you do not yet have solar panels, please allow us to assess you.
If you have solar panels, on your bill you will see a section entitled "Compensation for surpluses". There you will see the energy that your solar panel installation has transferred to the electricity grid. You will receive financial compensation for this energy and your bill will be lower.
Spanish regulations have established a maximum for the compensation of surpluses, so that, for a billing period, it will not be possible to pay compensation for surpluses for an amount that is higher than the cost of the energy you consume from the grid. Whenever this issue affects you on any invoice, it will appear as "Adjustment for limits to compensation".
