- The initiative, developed together with the Fundación Universidad-Empresa, has introduced scientific and technological disciplines to 4th-year ESO students through in-person sessions in Madrid and Seville and online webinars.
- With Explora tu Futuro 2.0, Endesa reinforces its commitment to training and young talent, contributing to reducing the professional skills gap in key sectors for the energy and digital transition.
- In addition to the experiences of professionals, students were able to learn first-hand about RetoTech, the benchmark educational project of the Endesa Foundation in innovation and technology, which celebrates its 11th edition this year.
Endesa has successfully concluded the first edition of 'Explora tu Futuro 2.0' (Explore Your Future 2.0), a programme developed together with the Fundación Universidad-Empresa (FUE), with which it has inspired more than 1,000 4th-year ESO (Year 11) students to discover the potential of STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) as a driver of change, innovation and professional opportunity. This project seeks not simply to 'inform' about STEM careers, but to generate a transformative experience for pupils, creating a space where students can view science through a different lens: based on practice, relatability and utility.
Initiatives such as this take on special relevance in a context where the demand for technical profiles and engineers is increasingly high on the part of companies, in line with objectives linked to digitalisation and the energy transition. According to data from the Engineering Observatory Report, 98% of the 750,000 engineering professionals are employed, with 87% of them working in an activity related to engineering. Only 20% of the total are female engineers.
Since its launch within the framework of Madrid Motor Student in late September in Madrid, the initiative has combined in-person meetings at educational centres in Madrid and Seville with several thematic online webinars, moderated by the well-known presenter Óscar Martínez. These created dynamic spaces where young people have been able to experience science and technology in a practical and accessible way, through real first-hand accounts, participatory activities and inspiring role models.
The sessions held at the Everest School Monteclaro in Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid) and at St. Mary’s School in Seville featured the participation of Endesa professionals and university lecturers who shared real experiences and showed how concepts studied in class translate into solutions for energy efficiency, digitalisation or sustainability.
In total, 'Explora tu Futuro 2.0' has reached around twenty educational centres and over 1,000 students (524 female and 538 male pupils) through these face-to-face events and its webinars focused on Industrial Engineering, Mathematics and Data, Physics and Chemistry, and Computer and Telecommunications Engineering.
Furthermore, students had the opportunity to learn first-hand about RetoTech, the Endesa Foundation initiative that promotes interest in STEM careers among students through robotics and programming, and which is celebrating its 11th edition this year.
