- The hotel chain presided over by Antonio Catalán has chosen Endesa as its partner for the
- energy management of its 69 in Spain.
- An agreement has been reached between the two companies for the supply of energy over the next two years, as part of a flexible agreement, which will help the hotels in its portfolio, mainly the AC Hotels by Marriott brand, to manage the risk of wholesale market prices, diversifying the times at which they are set and taking full advantage of the opportunities available on the markets, all with guidance from Endesa's experts.
- ACHM Spain Management, thanks to Endesa's advisory service, now has a personal advisor who accompanies it throughout the process and who focuses on optimising its energy costs in the medium to long term.
- Furthermore, Endesa, through Endesa X, has also secured a collaboration agreement with ACHM Spain Management in the area of electric mobility: it will install 160 chargers across the chain's hotel network in Spain.
- This alliance forms part of Endesa X's development plan for the public electric vehicle charging infrastructure, which, together with partners like ACHM Spain Management, has already put nearly 2,200 public chargers into operation across Spain.
Endesa and the management company of AC Hotels by Marriott in Spain, ACHM Spain Management, have entered into an energy alliance. Given the instability of energy prices on wholesale markets, the hotel chain has entrusted Endesa with the joint management of its electricity bills and has signed a flexible supply agreement for the coming two years. This formula, increasingly appreciated among large consumer customers, allows them to diversify market risk, as the price is not fixed at a single time (as is usually the case in many large agreements), rather is distributed across different stages, with it being possible to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the market.
In total, the agreement has been secured for 28 GW, which covers 100% of the energy needs of the 69 hotels that make up the group in Spain.
José Bogas, CEO of Endesa, emphasised during the event to sign the partnership agreement that "we have been committed to accompanying our customers in the management of their energy contracts for several years, taking into account that the biggest risk is associated with the volatility of wholesale markets, promoting long-term arrangements that provide them with stability. Specifically, in 2021 we increased our portfolio of contracts with a duration of 5 years or more by more than 4 TWh/a, doubling the energy committed to that term".
Flexible arrangements achieve the best results if they are managed well in advance and if they establish a medium or long-term contractual framework, as is the case of AC Hotels by Marriott, given that in this context, it is possible to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by the markets and seek stability that is undeniably very precious at times as turbulent as the ones we are seeing at present. Undoubtedly, choosing the moments of price fixing well is the factor that has the greatest impact on determining the final energy cost of a large consumer, affecting their competitiveness in a very relevant way. And with a view to helping each of its customers in the process of establishing a specific management strategy for their contracts and for them to make the best decisions for their respective businesses, Endesa provides them with its advisory services, consisting of a team of experts dedicated exclusively to the analysis of the energy markets, as well as digital tools developed ad hoc for the monitoring and operation of arrangements. Thus, through these advisory services, each customer is assigned a personal advisor who accompanies them in this process and who focuses on the optimisation of their long-term energy costs.
Endesa X "recharges" the car parks at its hotels
Furthermore, ACHM Spain Management and Endesa, through their Endesa X and AC Hotels by Marriott business lines, have also teamed up in the field of electric mobility as they continue to commit to an increasingly sustainable form of tourism and to make vehicle recharging increasingly easy and accessible to everybody.
To this end, Endesa X will roll out a network of 160 charging stations for electric vehicles at the chain's hotels across Spain. All recharging infrastructure installed at the hotels is publicly accessible and open to all users: anyone can make use of them, even if they are not going to stay at the hotel nor are they a current Endesa customer. Initially, 4 electrified spaces are planned in at each car park of the hotels, where they will also have an exclusive parking and recharging area for electric cars. Customers who are staying at hotels containing recharging infrastructure will also enjoy exclusive advantages.
Given their location and as they are in transited areas where the average parking time of customers is somewhat higher, a semi-fast technology has also been selected for the chargers that, thanks to their 22 kW capacity, make it possible to recover 80% of the vehicle's battery in approximately an hour and a half. They are universal, meaning that they can be used whatever the brand of electric vehicle; and facilitate the simultaneous charging of two vehicles at the same time, facilitating the rotation of vehicles at the hotels where they are installed.
JuicePass: manage recharging from your mobile phone
To use the recharging stations, you just have to install the Endesa X JuicePass recharging application on your phone, which is available completely free of charge on IOS and Android. You can login with your personal data or using your Facebook or Google profiles, speeding up the process. In any case, users do not necessarily have to register in order to use the application. They can always choose to use the charger via the app without registering and pay directly with their credit card.
However, when registering, users access a series of advantages: they can enjoy better conditions when it comes to recharging thanks to existing recharge rates, such as monthly recharge fees; have a physical RFID card to recharge their vehicle; or create their own account with their preferences and payment methods, facilitating subsequent recharges. Furthermore, with the JuicePass, users can locate the nearest charging station, ascertain its status and even book the charger in advance of their arrival.
Recharging across Spain
Thanks to the agreements in place like the one entered into with ACHM Spain Management, Endesa X's charging network has been growing, with nearly 2,200 public access charging stations operating across cities, rural environments and roads at present. Endesa X aims to continue installing charging options at all powers, a deployment plan that takes consideration of all customer usage habits and therefore charging powers. As a result, in addition to ultra-fast and fast charging, Endesa X is investing in facilities like hotels, such as the agreement announced today, hospitals, car parks, cinemas, restaurants, or shopping centres, where the average stay is more than two hours.
