- The CEIP Al‑Yusanna in Córdoba, Colegio Balmes in Palma, and IES Cervantes in Madrid were honoured with Endesa Foundation National Awards during the RetoTech Grand Finale in Madrid.
- The winners from the Community of Madrid had previously been revealed: CEIP Vicente Aleixandre for its Citytech project and IES Cervantes for its P.A.T.O. initiative.
- Out of the 255 Spanish schools participating this year, 14 regional winners were selected to compete today in the Grand Final for one of the three national awards.
- This 10th edition saw the participation of more than 12,000 primary and secondary students and teachers from 285 schools across Madrid, Extremadura, Andalusia, Aragon, Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, and Lisbon—30 more schools than the previous edition.
RetoTech’s 10th edition—the major technology challenge by Endesa Foundation to foster STEM careers among youth—concluded with two key events in Madrid: the regional festival for the Community of Madrid, where its two winners were selected, followed by the Grand Finale featuring regional champions from the Canary Islands, Andalusia, the Balearics, Extremadura, Catalonia, Aragón, and Madrid.
During the Grand Finale, finalist schools presented their projects to an expert jury, which acclaimed the students and teachers for their talent, creativity, and commitment to using technology as a driver of educational and social transformation.
Ana Berengena, Endesa Foundation’s Project Manager, emphasised, ‘At Endesa Foundation we are firmly committed to quality and innovative education, placing special focus on fostering STEM careers. We want to prepare young people—tomorrow’s professionals—to meet current challenges. The time you invest, the projects you build with RetoTech, and your passion help develop your talent, entrepreneurial spirit, and interest in technology.’
This edition featured over 12,000 students and teachers from 285 schools, awarding 17 prizes: three national Endesa Foundation Awards chosen by a jury and 14 Teacher Awards at regional festivals.
Grand Finale: 10th Edition of RetoTech National Awards
CEIP Al‑Yusanna (Lucena, Córdoba) received a National Award for Siembra tu futuro (Seed Your Future). This innovative project focuses on exploring potential neurodegenerative disease solutions using school vegetable gardens as a stimulation and learning tool.
Colegio Balmes (Palma) won for La Sensocápsula (The Sense Capsule). Within this proposal, a multisensory capsule is created to support emotional self-regulation for individuals with autism and other special needs. Students have outfitted a soundproof capsule featuring elements that facilitate relaxation through guided meditation and sensory stimuli.
IES Cervantes (Madrid) was honoured for P.A.T.O., the acronym for autonomous water testing platform. This is a low-power floating device that monitors natural water quality in real time. The system integrates sensors to assess pollution parameters, thereby supporting the preservation and protection of aquatic ecosystems.

Andalusia
IES Sierra Mágina (Huelma, Jaén) secured the secondary school award for its Parking inteligente (Smart Parking) project, designed to find innovative solutions for parking issues near the school.
Meanwhile, CEIP Al-Yusanna (Lucena, Córdoba) claimed the award for the best primary school project for its Siembra tu futuro initiative, which addresses possible brain disease solutions.
Aragon
Rural Grouped Cinca-Cinqueta School (Saravillo, Huesca) received the primary school award for its project Conectando nuestro entorno (Connecting Our Environment). This proposal automates diverse rural activities like herding, sheep counting, and farm/orchard monitoring. Its goal is to facilitate the daily routines of farmers and shepherds.
As for the secondary school award, IES Fernando Lázaro Carreter (Utrillas, Teruel) won with its Invernadero automatizado (Automated Greenhouse) project. This initiative enables efficient seed germination control through a system that regulates temperature, humidity, light, irrigation, and other key factors, besides generating its own electrical energy.
Balearic Islands
The primary school first award was honoured to Colegio Balmes (Palma) for its La Sensocápsula project. Students developed a sensory stimulation capsule to support self-regulation in individuals with autism and other special educational needs through sensory stimuli. This involved creating a soundproofed space featuring tools that encourage meditative breathing and sensory-based relaxation.
The secondary school award was given to Ágora International School (Portals Nous) for the Smart Cane project. In this case, a smart cane was created to empower visually impaired individuals to improve their perception of the surroundings using ultrasound sensors to detect obstacles nearby.
Canary Islands
IES Tías (Lanzarote) won the first secondary school award for its TIASOAP project, an educational robotics initiative with environmental advantages. This is a domestic machine developed to convert used vegetable oil into soap through saponification.
On the other hand, IES La Orotava (Tenerife) secured the second secondary award for its Nave Titán-Tortuga (Titan-Turtle Ship) initiative. This project, inspired by a turtle's shell, aims to simulate a groundbreaking approach to protect astronauts and their ships in extreme conditions.
Catalonia
Colegio de la Mercè (Martorell, Barcelona) was honoured with the first primary school award for its project Tus manos pueden salvar vidas (Your Hands Can Save Lives), an interactive mannequin crafted from recycled materials for accurate CPR practice.
Escola Anoia (Igualada, Barcelona) won the secondary school award for its Ayudamos a la Greta (We Help Greta) project. This proposal suggests technological solutions to facilitate the daily life of a teenager with ADHD.
Community of Madrid
CEIP Vicente Alexiandre clinched the first primary school award with their Citytech project. With this initiative, students strive to raise awareness across the entire educational community about the importance of evolving into a more sustainable city while advocating for renewable energy and clean technologies.
The first secondary school award went to IES Cervantes for its P.A.T.O. project, a low-consumption, floating autonomous platform. It assesses natural water quality through sensors and energy-efficient technology to collect pollution data and help protect ecosystems.
Extremadura
The first prize was granted to CEIP Virgen del Casar (Portaje, Cáceres) for its Cuidamos de las Aves de Portaje (We Care for the Birds of Portaje) project. This system employs sensors to detect birds entering their nest, subsequently providing food and water. It also activates a surveillance camera to study bird behaviour.
In addition, CEIP Cruz Valero (Fuente del Maestre, Badajoz) secured the second prize for its Parqueval initiative. This proposal involves an innovative amusement park that promotes the use of clean and renewable energy. This way, it helps to reduce the carbon footprint of leisure activities.
RetoTech: Ten years of educational transformation
Launched in 2016, RetoTech has become a leading national programme for fostering STEM careers. Over these ten editions, more than 53,000 students and teachers from nearly 1,200 schools have engaged with this initiative, successfully designing and implementing technological projects that genuinely impact their communities.
This anniversary stands as a true milestone, celebrated for both the journey accomplished and the impact generated. Its core purpose is to prepare new generations for a future where sustainability and technology walk hand-in-hand.
