- This initiative aims to improve the employability of people at risk of social exclusion and vulnerability in areas where Endesa carries out its industrial activities.
- Since its first edition in 2011, 824 people have received training, of which 244 have obtained a job and 391 continue their studies.
This year the Endesa Foundation and Cáritas launched the tenth edition of its training courses in the electricity sector, aimed at people in situations of vulnerability and social exclusion. It's an initiative that was designed to respond to the needs in the areas in which Endesa develops its industrial activities, facilitating access to the world of work and social integration through the training and development of professional and personal skills.
The first edition was in 2011, beginning in Ponferrada and Tenerife, and later expanded to other areas and towns. Today, this programme is carried out in all the Autonomous Communities in which Endesa is present, specifically in Andalusia, Aragon, the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Galicia and Madrid.
The professional skills that are developed through this course are training in assembly, maintenance and repair operations of electrical and air conditioning installations in buildings, complying at all times with current regulations and standards, under personal and environmental safety conditions.
At the end of the training, students obtain an approved professionalism certificate issued by the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) and various Autonomous Communities, which is a guarantee for companies when hiring.
In its commitment to improving the employability of this group, this collaboration with Caritas is one of the first social initiatives that the Endesa Foundation has undertaken since it started. These entities have been working together in training for the last ten years.
Since the launch of the programme, which also has the voluntary support of twenty Employees from Endesa every year, a total of 824 people have been trained, of whom 244 have been employed, which is 33% of the total. In addition, 53% are still in training (391 people), which is very significant as it means that 86% of students have got a job or decided to continue their training.
