- The implementation of this new charging infrastructure is part of an agreement signed at the end of 2019 between Endesa X and McDonald's for the installation of electric vehicle charging stations in the car parks of its restaurants in Spain.
- Promotion of electric mobility is part of the sustainability commitments of both companies, particularly in the fight against climate change. This is part the McDonald's "Happy Change" movement, which is based on three areas of action: packaging, recycling and energy
McDonald's and Endesa X have opened the first ultra-fast charging stations (HPC) for electric vehicles in a number of restaurants around the country. With 150 kW of power, these charging stations enable an 80% recharge of vehicle batteries in approximately 10 minutes.
The first towns to have HPC points are Cordoba (Avenida del Brillante 20 and Avenida de Libia 13), Lerida (Calle Joaquín Costa s/n), Los Alcores (Calle Utrera 1), Puente Genil (Calle Montalbán 19), Rivas Vaciamadrid (Avenida de los Almendros s/n), Villalba (Calle Amapolas corner with Alejandro Gamella) and Utrera (Ctra. Arahal - Utrera, km. 77, Avenida Cuesta del Merendero).
Natalia Mota, head of Purchasing, Quality and Sustainability at McDonald's Spain, said, "the installation of these ultra-fast chargers is continuing to improve the experience of our customers in our restaurants with an additional, environmentally responsible service. We are proud of this initiative, in which we are working hand in hand with Endesa X on a mobility project that is part of our commitment to environmental sustainability."
Elena Bernárdez, head of electric mobility at Endesa X, said "thanks to our agreements with leading companies such as McDonald's, we are continuing to make electric mobility more accessible for users, facilitating recharging as part of their daily lives. We are diversifying approaches in key locations with cutting-edge technologies to adapt to what each user needs.
This project is part of an agreement signed at the end of 2019 between Endesa X and McDonald's to install electric vehicle charging stations in the car parks at its restaurants throughout Spain as a way of improving the experience for its customers and meeting their needs. They have been working ever since on the installation of fast charging stations, with Endesa X now having 96 fast charging points (50 kW) in 36 restaurants in 31 locations.
This initiative is part of the joint commitments to promoting electric mobility by Endesa X and McDonald's. McDonald's is pursuing a range of initiatives through the "Happy Change" sustainability plan it presented at the beginning of 2020, including installing charging infrastructure at its restaurants.
Recharging for everyone
This service is offered to anyone who visits a McDonald's restaurant that has charging infrastructure, as a way of promoting the use of electric vehicles among all users. There is no obligation to eat at the restaurant.
Booking, use and payment for the charging service is quick and simple through the Endesa X Juicepass app. Users just need to download the app to their mobile, enabling them to manage the recharging of their electric vehicle directly from their phone (pay, book up to 15 minutes in advance, etc.). Tariffs are adapted to the needs of all users, with monthly recharging and pay-per-use tariffs, in which you only pay for what you use.
The app is available for iOS and Android. Users can sign up directly from their Facebook or Google account, or by providing an e-mail address. By registering, users can enjoy better recharging conditions through the recharge rates offered, use a physical RFID card to recharge their vehicle, or create an account with their own preferences and payment methods, facilitating subsequent recharges. But users do not have to register to use the app. You can use it without registering and pay with your credit card through the app.
