- Endesa X Way is the new business line dedicated exclusively to electric mobility to continue expanding the existing electric vehicle charging infrastructure in order to meet all customer requirements.

- This is how Endesa is strengthening its commitment to electric mobility, and this involves maintaining its investment plan in the public access infrastructure plan that it has already communicated to the market, and which to date has created the largest public access charging network in Spain that by the end of 2021 consisted of more than 9,500 charging stations in both the public and private sectors.
Endesa X Way has arrived. The first objective of this new brand dedicated exclusively to electric mobility is to focus on clearing the way towards the global transformation of mobility for all users and electrifying transport in our country, one of the great challenges we face as a society since this contributes more than a quarter of the total greenhouse gas emissions produced in Spain.
Endesa X Way focusses on extending the electric vehicle charging infrastructure to meet the requirements of the constantly growing electric mobility. At the same time, there is continuous development in advanced electric vehicle charging technologies and flexible solutions to improve the customer experience, both private consumers, as well as companies, cities and public administrations.
"Sustainable mobility is a fact, it is unstoppable, and electric vehicle charging is no longer a barrier to entry. Three years ago we launched the most ambitious public access charging infrastructure plan to help break the charging barrier, today we are still involved and our commitment is even stronger. We are and will always be here to help customers, making it easier for them to change, offering them products and services that meet their requirements and always listening and adapting to the market", says Elena Bernárdez, the manager of electric mobility at Endesa X, and who will continue to be at the head of this new division as General Manager of Endesa X Way.
What are Endesa X Way's plans for the future?
Endesa X Way will continue working on providing energy recharging solutions for all those looking to switch to electric mobility, just as it has done so far. In this regard, by the end of 2021 Endesa X Way already had more than 9,500 charging stations in both the public and private sectors.
With regard to chargers with public access, since 2019 Endesa X Way has created not only the most extensive charging network in Spain, with more than 3,200 charging stations installed, but also the most powerful: 40% of the chargers are over 50 kW, equivalent to an average of 15% of the capacity of charging stations installed in Spain.
"In the first phase of the public charging infrastructure plan we were looking for "capillarity", and now in this phase we are seeking to accompany the growth of the electric mobility market, looking for "depth" in the service and adaptation to the requirements of users who will increasingly demand recharging that takes less time", according to Elena Bernárdez.
In fact, in 2021 Endesa X Way, began installing ultrafast chargers of 150 and 350 kW, which is currently the highest charging power for vehicles and more in line with the time that people are nowadays prepared to invest in refuelling at a service station.
"Without ambitious goals, you will never get to change. We have shown that this is where we stand in these last 3 years since we launched our public access recharging plan. In 2021 we began to deploy ultra-fast charging and we closed the year with more than 25 locations that offer a total of 75 x 150 kW (ultra-fast charging) chargers, but we will continue with deployment, listening to the market, accompanying an automotive industry that has access to batteries with more and more capacity and most importantly, we are always adapting to the needs and uses of our customers".
In this regard, last January, the largest all-electric service station in Spain was inaugurated in Ciudad de la Imagen, in Madrid, which has the capacity to charge 46 electric vehicles simultaneously thanks to its 20 ultrafast (150 kW) and 26 semi-fast (up to 22kW) charging stations.
The network built by Endesa X Way in Spain was possible thanks to the commitment and vision shared between nearly 900 partners with whom an agreement was reached to install chargers where users need them, taking into account people's habits of use and as a result carefully selecting the charging powers, and enabling them not to have to make excessive changes to their lifestyle:
- In their homes and workplaces, but also, for example, when shopping at the supermarket or when they go to the doctor (Supermercado Consum and VITHAS hospitals)
- When on holiday or during business travel and staying in hotels (agreement with Barceló, Palladium Group and AC Hotels) and during leisure time (agreement with Parques Reunidos and McDonalds)
- When leaving a vehicle in a public car park (agreement with Parkia, SABA, IPark, and EYSA)
· But it is also necessary on long journeys and Endesa X Way has spent a number of years working with different service station partners looking to make a proactive contribution to the project for the electrification of transport. This includes agreements with companies like CEEES, Andamur, GasExpress, etc., and this has enabled capillarity on the main roads, which will be strengthened by an alliance recently signed by Endesa X Way and CEPSA and which will jointly deploy the largest ultra-fast charging network in Spain.
For Elena Bernárdez, "Endesa X Way maintains a firm commitment to continue investing to make it easier to charge electric vehicles, but we need to further streamline the processes of granting construction licences at the different levels of public administration and the energisation of the charging stations themselves. There have already been changes in the right direction, but they are becoming more and more essential to be able to accelerate the process of development of the electric vehicle in Spain. We have the defined strategy, and we have the will and the means to be able to undertake the necessary investment for the development of this market".
We are also here for individuals and companies
But developing electric mobility involves so much more. There need to be solutions for all kinds of needs and customers, as well as charging in public spaces. Endesa X Way knows this and aims to further enhance the role of "facilitator" for all companies and private customers who decide to take a step in this direction. However, key steps have already been taken to "democratise" the electric car, by answering questions, offering solutions and breaking down barriers, taking notice of needs and finding solutions.
"When a customer decides to buy an electric vehicle, it is natural to go to the dealership and leave there with everything done, with no need to worry about where they have to charge it. This is the same vision we share with manufacturers like Hyundai, KIA and Jaguar Land Rover with whom we have agreements to make a global offer right from the outset, "says Elena Bernárdez.
That same philosophy gave rise to ParkElectric, created together with SABA so that anyone who does not have a private garage, and with a single quota, can rent a parking space that includes the rental of the recharging equipment for exclusive use and a certain amount of KWh per month, equivalent to approximately 1,000 km; and also OneElectric, a solution designed for corporate fleets launched together with Atlhon and whose model today we are also offering with other rental companies like ALD, to offer an all-inclusive service in a single instalment that covers the duration of the fleet renting contract and, most importantly, with a single spokesperson, which is the rental company.
For companies that opt for electric mobility in their fleets, Endesa X Way provides "turnkey" solutions with comprehensive proposals ranging from consulting, for the design of their optimal charging infrastructure both in the workplace and in the homes of their employees, to installation, legalisation and implementation. It is also possible to include the management of the available subsidies to benefit from current advantages, thus minimising the investment costs for their charging stations. Companies that have already opted for charging solutions such as Calidad Pascual, Merlin Properties and Aquaservice, may be considered to be pioneers in electric mobility.
