  • Registration will take place between 6 September and 7 October.

The Endesa Foundation has launched the 5th edition of the RetoTech Awards in Madrid, Aragon and Andalusia.

This is the first time that Andalusia has been part of these Awards.

RetoTech is a training and technological project through which the Endesa Foundation, in collaboration with the Education Departments of the aforementioned Communities, promotes projects aimed at the transformation and innovation of education of the young, encouraging teaching staff and students in educational centres to develop technological projects that meet the real needs of their environment.

At the end of the 2019-2020 school year, the project will culminate in a festival to be held in each of the three participating Autonomous Communities, to be attended by students and teachers from the 110 participating schools.

At this Festival, the Endesa Foundation will present four awards to the projects presented and to the students and teachers, two of which will be on a national level and two on a local level.

The national awards will be the Endesa Foundation Award, chosen a jury, and the Networks Award, which is given to the project most voted for on the RetoTech website.

On the local level, the Endesa Employee Award will be awarded, going to the most voted candidate among those attending the event in each Autonomous Community, and the Teacher Award, chosen by the teachers of the schools in each Community.

Since its launch, 136 primary and secondary schools have participated in RetoTech and 872 teachers and more than 12,700 students have received training.

In this fifth edition, 70 primary and secondary schools in Madrid, 20 in Aragon and 20 in Andalusia will learn about robotics, programming and 3D printing.

The Primary Education project will integrate robotics with Arduino and 3D printed elements, while the Secondary project will integrate an Android application. For this, all candidates selected will be given 10 robot kits based on Arduino (ZUM kit) and the schools participating for the first time will receive a 3D Witbox Go! printer. The teachers of each selected school will also receive ongoing training and support. The Endesa Foundation is supported by BQ Educación for teacher training and the production of kits and 3D printers.

Registration will be open from 6 September to 7 October 2019 at https://www.fundacionendesa.org/es/retotech-proyecto-de-innovacion-educativa.com. The teacher in charge of each school must fill in the registration form with all the information requested.

The candidate must prepare a video no more than 5 minutes long, in which the school, its students and the teachers argue why their participation in this project would help them to expand and improve the use of technology in the classroom.

The originality, production and quality of the videos will be taken into account during their assessment.

The schools that have been definitively selected to participate in the project will be published on 14 October.

In the last edition, 183 schools registered to participate in RetoTech, of which 90 were selected. The 'Endesa Foundation Award' was won by CEIP San Juan Bautista de Arganda del Rey, Madrid, with their project 'Chaleco ANE (Ayuda, Necesidades y Emociones)'; the 'Networks Award' went to Colegio Cardenal Spínola de Madrid with their project 'STEAMos todos'; and finally, the 'Endesa Employee Award' was awarded to Instituto de Educación Secundaria José García Nieto, de Las Rozas, Madrid, with their project 'Prevención de Incendios'.

In total, 5400 students and 360 teachers benefited from this initiative.

RetoTech is a prime example of Fundación Endesa's commitment to entrepreneurship.
