- It tops the IBEX 35 ranking for best practices in transparency and fiscal responsibility according to the "2019 Contribution and Transparency Report" presented by the Commitment and Transparency Foundation.
- Once again the company was given the maximum score, 24 out of 24 points, and was rated as a "transparent" company.
Endesa was recognised for the third consecutive year as the Ibex 35 company that provided the best reports on tax issues according to a "20209 Contribution and Transparency Report" that has just been published by the Commitment and Transparency Foundation. The report places Endesa in first position among the companies with the largest market cap in the market in terms of transparency and fiscal responsibility and gives it the highest score: 24 points out of 24.
Endesa's strengths include a section on the website entitled Transparency in compliance with tax legislation, which has been improving year after year, and which includes a Fiscal Transparency Report with all kinds of significant information in this field for stakeholders, and details of all the internal regulations in tax affairs within the company. Reference is also made to its Tax Compliance Management System that was once again certified by AENOR as guaranteeing the correct adaptation of the system to the provisions of the UNE 19602 Standard. It also shows a commitment to the promotion of a cooperative relationship with the Tax Administration in those jurisdictions where it is present.
Endesa also features links from its website to the Audit Committee's Activities Report, which reflects regular attendance by the company's head of tax affairs to report the entity's tax situation and also informs with regard to whistle-blower channels for reporting irregular and unethical behaviour and with regard to the crime prevention and money laundering systems.
The result of the report shows the degree of Endesa's commitment to fiscal transparency and the economic and social contribution it makes in the jurisdictions where it operates, which has come to light with the publication of a Tax Contribution Report that includes details of taxes paid and collected in those jurisdictions where it operates.
In 2020, Endesa's total tax contribution amounted to 3,484 million euros, of which 1,410 million corresponded to taxes paid and 2,074 million to amounts collected as a result of Endesa's business activity. 90% of the payment and collection of taxes during 2020 was made in Spain where taxes amounting to 1,381 million euros were paid and 1,750 million euros were collected.
For María Muñoz Viejo, Head of Tax Affairs at Endesa, "consolidating our leadership in this ranking demonstrates the strength of Endesa's commitment to behaving responsibly in tax affairs and in providing transparent explanations with regard to information on tax content that may be of interest to third parties. This is especially significant in a context such as the current one where demands by society in this area are increasing sharply. We firmly believe in transparency and accountability as part of our values and have a strong commitment to social and corporate responsibility that leads us to continually improve our position over time."
