- Endesa has once again been classified as a "transparent" company according to a "Transparency Report on fiscal responsibility in IBEX 35 companies" by the Haz Foundation.
- The company once again complies with the 12 indicators analysed.
Endesa has once again been acknowledged as a "transparent" company according to a "2022 Contribution and Transparency Report" recently published by the Haz Foundation. Once again Endesa complies in 100% of the areas analysed, with full compliance with the 12 indicators examined.
Endesa's strengths include the best practice of making public its tax risk management and control policy with details of models for supervision, roles and responsibilities.
Endesa also stands because its website includes links to specific tax issues and because it has prepared a document providing information on important issues such as: Fiscal strategy, tax havens, transfer prices, ongoing verification actions and tax litigation, administrative cooperation and tax contribution country by country.
The result of the report shows the degree of Endesa's commitment to fiscal transparency and the economic and social contribution it makes in the jurisdictions where it operates, which has come to light with the publication of a Tax Contribution Report that includes details of taxes paid and collected in those jurisdictions where it operates.
In 2022, Endesa's total tax contribution amounted to €3,843 million, of which €1,634 million corresponded to taxes paid and €2,209 million to amounts collected as a result of Endesa's business activity. Over 85% of the payment and collection of taxes in 2022 occurred in Spain where taxes amounting to €1,619 million were paid and €1,676 million were collected.
Furthermore, in May 2022, Endesa renewed AENOR's certificate on its Tax Compliance Management System in accordance with the UNE 19602 regulation, leading the certifying body to conclude that the system has effectively been implemented and has a high level of maturity, highlighting as strengths the high level of involvement of the staff interviewed, systematic support to the different areas within the organisation with regard to tax issues and the hard work done by the tax unit to progress in the digitalisation of its processes.
For María Muñoz Viejo, Endesa's Head of Tax Issues, "complying once again with all the indicators analysed by the Haz Foundation demonstrates the strength of Endesa's commitment to behaving responsibly with regard to tax issues and to providing transparent explanations with regard to information on tax content that may be of interest to third parties. Endesa has a solid fiscal control framework and an increasingly strong compliance culture that we believe is transferred outside the company, contributing to the creation of sustainable value for the company and an improved reputation."
