After chapter 1, which was full of surprises, the #eVuelta series continues its journey with "Samantha, autumn and Logroño". In chapter 2, we are accompanied by the chef Samantha Vallejo-Nágera on a journey from Burgos to Logroño to enjoy a very interesting wine tasting session.
Do you want to find out everything they experienced? Don’t miss the video!
And if after viewing the chapters you wish to know more about electric vehicles and mobility, don’t miss our other series, the reports on:
Electrical mobility is efficient, even your car will tell you so
An electrical vehicle (EV) is not just a car. It is the clearest example of how to make reality the concept of energy efficiency and also the starting point towards a new mobility model that has begun to create and will completely change our habits in travel and energy consumption.
Arturo Perez de Lucia, Director-General of AEDIVE, the corporate Association for Development and Boosting the Electrical Vehicle, explains to us how electrical vehicles enable not only taking energy from the network, but also giving it back. "The consumer will claim energy when required, but will also have the capacity to be able to transfer the remaining energy from the battery when the systems so requires. For example, if your battery has 90 kWh and during your daily use you expend 15 kWh you can transfer the entire surplus to the system or a public space, as occurs in other countries. Or transfer just a part if you require this energy for your home (so you don’t expend from the network). Currently, there are manufacturers that incorporate this and others will start to incorporate it because this is the future of electric vehicles", explains Arturo.

According to Noemí Navas, spokesperson of ANFAC, the Spanish Association for Cars and Lorry Manufacturers, "a new paradigm is opened up for the automobile industry. This is a major challenge". And this is what will be entailed by implantation of the electric vehicle into society; it will be a balance between supply and demand of energy required, thus avoiding and overloading in the electric system into an increasingly more electric society.
At AEDIVE they believe that "we have to alter the traditional concept of the combustion car mentality to enter the game of energy efficiency, where you will charge your electric car during off-peak hours (the cheapest) with unused energy (from nocturnal electrical windmills) where there is no demand to later sell or install it in your home during much more expensive hours. So that, apart from what you will have charged with renewable energy, you will end up saving a lot of money. The more EVs, the more the demand curve will balance out".
According to data provided by ANFAC: "It is estimated that Spain has to aspire to manufacture at least 500,000 electric vehicles in 2030 so as not to fall behind in future market advances".
At KIA they aspire to offer by 2025 a broad range of environmentally friendly cars such as electric vehicles, hybrids and plug-in hybrids. "We believe in a future in which the opportunities for mobility and transport will be unlimited and for everyone. Against this backdrop, our aim involves turning into a mobility services provider in addition to offering car sharing services with this kind of car", they state from this brand.
Electrical, autonomous and connected cars
The experts also agree that a future awaits us related to autonomous and connected cars where we will have a fully connected vehicle, one of the largest challenges which the automobile industry faces and which doubtless will revolutionise the concept of mobility itself.
From AEDIVE, Arturo Pérez de Lucia tells us what this electric vehicle will be like: "Communication systems will be installed so that a vehicle that circulates on one lane can communicate with other vehicles such that if somebody detects an accident, you can know at what kilometre this occurred and alternative routes will be offered to you". How will we know this? Because the car itself will tell you. It will be an intelligent car, a car that either by means of a screen or live voice notifies you of all hazards or disadvantages that may make your driving less than 100% pleasurable.
"But apart from car to car or car to driver communication, there will also be connectivity from car to building (your work, for example) or from car to home so that you can switch on the heating 10 minutes before you arrive, among other uses", adds Arturo.
“Connectivity from car to building (your work, for example) or from car to home will also exist so that you can switch on the heating 10 minutes before you arrive.”

ANFAC insists on the importance of generation of "wearable" devices (devices that will be incorporated into our clothes or compliments and that are "on us") and voice assistants that "will facilitate connection of all user screens, understanding the vehicle as the sixth screen. Its use will also be simpler and more accessible".
Another innovation that may be of major interest to drivers is that your electric car will notify you where there are free areas to park wherever you want to do so and will take you to them, "so that you don’t waste one minute of your time and patience when parking", AEDIVE mentions. "Another possibility is that your car is waiting for you at the door when you leave work because you have previously pressed the button on your mobile phone that told the car to do this".
Noemí Navas believes there will be a before and after in our lives after the electric vehicle because of its technology and its use: "The equipping of vehicles and their complexity will multiply either by means of lasers, scanners or cameras. And the connection with infrastructures in the city will be essential, such as traffic lights and traffic signals with other vehicles".
Whereby, according to expert opinions we will have before us a DeLorean that will find in this perfect space between sustainable mobility and energy efficiency related to boosting renewables, energy storage, distributed generation and self-consumption.
Apart from having both environmental and economic benefits, this is as innovative a change as completely switching our habits and the way we move around. But that’s not everything. Stay alert to your screens.
