Do you want to change your Endesa contract holder?
If you've moved to a new house or apartment, or relocated your business to a different property, one of the first steps after that is to update the electricity or gas contract with your name. The contract needs to reflect the name of the person consuming the energy. That’s why, at Endesa, we’ll walk you through the situations where a name change is typically required and explain how to complete this process quickly, easily, and free of charge.
To complete the process, you can choose between two options: a transfer, which involves changing the name and the tariff, or a subrogation, which gives you the possibility of changing the name but keeping the tariff associated with the property’s existing electricity or gas contract.
In both cases, the new contract holder must sign the agreement to make the change effective, whether it's a transfer or subrogation. From then on, you’ll be responsible for paying the bills, with the first amount calculated on a prorated basis. This process is completely free of charge. However, if a review of the installation or a visit from a technician is required, the distributor may charge an additional fee for the visit.
What do you need to do to change the contract holder?
Call us at our toll-free number: + 34 800 76 09 09. Before calling, make sure you have the following information ready:
- Personal information of the new contract holder (your information): full name, ID number, and phone number.

- SPUC (Universal Supply Point Code) or the complete address of the property where the installation is located.
- A copy of the property’s deed or the rental agreement (if applicable).
- The new contract holder’s bank account details for direct debit.
- If you’re calling from outside Spain, dial +34 937 061 510.
What if the contract holder’s information is not updated?
If you’ve followed the steps to change the name on your electricity or gas contract and a month has passed since submitting your request without seeing the updates, you can file a claim. We’ll respond within 15 business days.
The electrical bulletin to finalise the name change
After the name change process is completed, an electrical bulletin—known as the Electrical Installation Certificate (CIE)—will be issued. This document confirms that the installation complies with current regulations and includes details such as the layout of the installation, the contracted power, and the maximum capacity for future changes.
If the CIE is over 20 years old, your distributor may require a new one. To obtain it, you’ll need to hire an authorised technician, who may charge between €50 and €200 for the service (we recommend comparing quotes).
