The Valuable 500: A commitment beyond diversity and inclusion
Our commitment to human rights, equality and diversity is unshakeable. That's why we were the first company in the energy sector to join Valuable 500, a global initiative to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in the Spanish workplace.
"Human beings are afraid of anything that's different. But in reality, wealth lies in its diversity". This is how our CEO, José Bogas, explained the importance of promoting values like diversity, inclusion and equality, both inside and outside the company.
These values are fully integrated into our business culture, which is why we were the first Spanish company in the energy sector in Spain to join The Valuable 500. This global initiative, which features the participation of over 500 private companies, promotes the business, social and economic value of people with disabilities.
According to Paolo Bondi, our General Manager of People and Organisation: "The company has decided to join Valuable 500 because we believe in disability and the value that disability and diversity can contribute to the company".

In Spain there are almost four million people with disabilities and yet this group still has the highest risk of social exclusion in terms of access to employment. María Malaxechevarría, General Manager of Sustainability at Endesa, says: "As a company, we have a responsibility not only to society but also to the business when it comes to promoting inclusion among both our employees and our customers".
Our initiatives to promote inclusion
Javier Crespo is one of 75 people with disabilities who are part of Endesa's workforce. He has a prosthetic hip due to medical negligence when he was a child, and in addition to having been a professional swimmer in three Paralympic Games, he is in charge of claims management in the Customer Engagement department at Infrastructure and e-Distribution Networks, our electricity distributor.
Javier rates his experience in the company very positively: "It's a pleasure for me to work in a company that allows me to prove my worth and that really believes in training and integrating people with disabilities".

Within the company we promote awareness and inclusion of disability through guidelines, workshops, courses and a range of initiatives in the We Integrate Value campaign. We will launch several inclusion pilot schemes in 2022 to respond to this commitment.
We also support employees who have children with disabilities. This is the case of María Luisa Reig, an e-Distribución employee and mother of three, one of whom has Down syndrome. "Thanks to the Family Plan that Endesa runs in collaboration with the Adecco Foundation, we can benefit from financial aid and support when looking for the best therapies or activities", she explained. "I'm proud to belong to a company that supports us in the development and integration of our children", she concluded.

Promoting diversity and inclusion is one of the keystones of our strategy. Because we know we don't need to fear what's different, but can discover the wealth that everyone can contribute to the company and to society.
