At Endesa we are convinced that electric mobility is one of the key pieces in the shift towards a more sustainable energy model. That is why we want our employees to participate in that transformation and become ambassadors for a new energy culture.
In April 2020 we closed the fifth edition of the Electric Mobility Plan for Employees (PMEE). Since the plan started in 2015, more than 900 company employees have signed up for the benefits of electric mobility and have a 100% electric car for their private use. They represent 9% of the company’s total workforce in Spain and 5% of all the electric vehicles sold in the country.
Over the five years of the plan, the private electric vehicles of Endesa employees have travelled more than 23 million kilometres and have prevented the emission of over 5,000 tonnes of CO₂ into the atmosphere, as well as the emission of particles and NOx, to contribute to improving the air quality in cities.
The key to the success and popularity of the Plan among employees has largely been the design of a comprehensive financial package for employees that includes the electric vehicle, a charging point and other facilities.
In addition to agreements with the manufacturers (offering up to seven 100% electric models with approved autonomy of up to 450 km, in some cases), employees have had other incentives:
- Preference in the car parks at corporate headquarters.
- Financial aid for their collaboration in publicising the plan.
- The support of a technical project office, created since the first edition, to attend to all requests for information, accompany the employees and answer all their questions during the process.
Endesa workers (and the general public) can also enjoy a number of facilities when purchasing a domestic charging point through the Endesa X Integrated Electric Vehicle Solution, which covers installation, maintenance, warranty and financing for less than €1 per day.
The Employee Plan forms part of our strategy decarbonising the economy and our commitment to promoting a new energy culture based on the electrification of demand and efficient and responsible consumption.
In addition to promoting sustainable mobility among our employees through the plan, we have committed to electrifying half of our operational, commercial and agency fleet by the end of 2021.
Thanks to the contribution of our colleagues, this plan has already received several awards and for the last two years has been selected as a Climate Project by the Spanish Office for Climate Change, in recognition of its contribution to reducing CO₂ emissions.
