ConectArte

Urban art finds the perfect partner in the power grid. Curious how? Let us show you!

ConectArte

What is ConectArte?

Are you concerned about climate change? GHG emissions are affecting our planet, making it essential to take action. A key part of the solution is changing how we generate and use energy to reduce these emissions—this is what we call the energy transition.

ConectArte is an initiative for students who are over 15, from art schools, high schools, and fine arts faculties, focusing on a critical aspect of the energy transition: power grids. This includes power lines, transformers, and substations—everything that brings electricity right to your home.

Thanks to ConectArte, students from Teruel, l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Palma de Mallorca, Badajoz, and Arona are contributing by submitting sketches that could inspire the decoration of a transformer centre.

The prize

The winning design will inspire a mural painted by the artists of Unlogic Crew on a transmission grid installation

But there’s more: up to ten classmates can join the winner for an exclusive masterclass with these artists as they paint the mural.l.

Energy transition and power grid

The energy transition is essential for slowing down climate change, reducing the emissions that drive it. This transition involves not only adopting clean energy sources like solar and wind but also modernising the power grid to deliver this clean energy to our homes.

Álvaro Ybarra Zavala

One of Spain’s leading photographers, Álvaro Ybarra Zavala, has travelled the country capturing the transformation brought about by the energy transition and decarbonisation. His work in ‘The Legacy We Will Leave’ inspired the sketches submitted by the artists. Want a glimpse of it? Here’s a small collection from this masterpiece!
