The work environment is playing a leading role in the company’s cultural and digital transformation with the adoption of new, innovative tools.

SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities
The digitalisation process cannot be carried out without the most important part of the company: its workers. To bring about the development of a digital culture in the workplace, it is necessary to make all the necessary technological tools available to them.
Open Power Space: driving the collaborative digital culture
To promote creativity and innovation among the workforce using the latest technological advances, we have an Open Power Space. This is a space at our headquarters in Madrid with an open design, in order to enhance collaboration, creativity and the use of new work methodologies. Its main aims are to: reduce the time-to-market of
- Reduce the time-to-market of digital initiatives.
- Serve as a seed of change for the organisational culture.
- Be used as an space for innovation, in which new business ideas arise.
In this collaborative space, initiatives are being developed that group together the different lines of business around certain technologies to provide solutions to new challenges. In 2019, 20 presentations were held that addressed the three pillars on which the Open Power Space is based: technology and innovation, new methodologies and collaborative tools.
It also hosts initiatives such as the Empower training programme, which fosters a culture of entrepreneurship among employees, improving skills and methodologies in teamworking and innovation. It is an initiative to which the entire staff has access through the Open Power Space website which, in addition to announcing the activities and events that
have been organised, serves as a repository for the materials presented at meetings, encouraging knowledge transfer between employees.
Open Work and Tech Bar: efficient technology in the office
During 2019 we also promoted projects to provide employees with more technological resources. The implementation of Open Work at headquarters has allowed an entire plant to adopt a new way of working, improving energy efficiency and eliminating the barriers between workstations to facilitate a collaborative environment.
Similarly, the Tech Bar has been made available to workers, offering personal support from a technician who helps to resolve questions or incidents relating to corporate technology. This service is supplemented by workshops on collaborative work tools and digital routines. In 2019 this service received 3,063 requests from employees and gave 118 workshops in which 754 people participated. These figures demonstrate the interest in acquiring good digital practices both inside and outside the office.
Training for the success of the digitalisation process
Staff training to develop their technological capabilities is a fundamental part of incorporating new work methodologies. In 2019, a total of 22,559.47 hours were taught in workshops and training cycles related with the company’s digital transformation.
