- The retailer Endesa Energía was awarded the tender to meet 100% of the energy requirements of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) for the next 4 years
- The energy company plans to supply up to 90 GWh/year of green energy, which will prevent the emission of 24,570 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere per year.
- The PAV has taken a new step towards reaching the goal of becoming an emissions-neutral port by 2030.
Endesa already supplies fully renewable energy to the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), known commercially as Valenciaport; this supply is an essential feature of the "2030 Zero Emissions" objective that governs all investment projects in the Port of Valencian, the leader in Spanish commercial traffic in the Mediterranean. With this commitment to renewable energy, Endesa estimates that it will be possible to avoid the emission of 24,570 tons of CO2 per year, the equivalent of what can be absorbed by more than 41,400 trees in 40 years.
The agreement with the retailer Endesa Energía was the result of being awarded the public tender for Valenciaport and involves supplying up to 90 GWh per year over the next 4 years and this will meet all the energy requirements of the PAV in the three state-owned ports it manages, as well as installations including the Cullera and Canet lighthouses and the Port Authority's central offices.
Endesa will provide nine supply points, for which the company guarantees that 100% of the energy will be certified with a Guarantee of Origin (GdOs in Spanish) issued by the Spanish Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC).
This new collaboration with Endesa will enable Valenciaport to continue along the roadmap towards decarbonisation in all its activities. The PAV is now considered to be a benchmark with regard to decarbonisation as a result of initiatives including the use of hydrogen in port operations, photovoltaic plants within the port enclosures in Valencia and Gandía, electricity production by wave power, and by wind turbines. We should also add the promotion of the use of the railway and the motorways of the sea.

About the Port Authority of Valencia
The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), commercially known as Valenciaport, is the public body responsible for the management of three state-owned ports located along 80 kilometres on the Mediterranean coast in eastern Spain: Valencia, Sagunto and Gandía. The PAV, like the rest of the Port Authorities in Spain, is governed by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda. Valenciaport is the leading Spanish port in the Mediterranean with regard to commercial traffic, mainly of containerised goods, largely due to a dynamic area of influence and an extensive network of connections with the main ports in the world.
