- In Iznalloz, Endesa and the Juan XXIII Foundation presented the diplomas that accredit the training of 11 people from the La Casa Grande Foundation in composting, the clearance and maintenance of forest screens in solar plants, providing them with a qualification and a future job.
- The objective of these courses is to make progress in energy transition and to combat depopulation, while at the same time generating inclusive, high quality green training and employment for people in situations of psychosocial vulnerability.
The renewable energy sector needs specialised personnel not only during the construction phase, but especially during for operation and maintenance. The installations require professionals to control the vegetation on the perimeter, and who know how to clear the areas between the panels to make it easier for people and the machinery that work in them to pass, as well as to prevent the vegetation from affecting the solar panels.
With this in mind, Endesa and the Juan XXIII Foundation developed a training plan to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in this new and growing labour framework. The plan is now being implemented in Iznalloz and Píñar, where Endesa is in the process of building new renewable capacity and is looking to employ specialised personnel in the area.
The diplomas were presented to 11 students sponsored by the La Casa Grande de Iznalloz Foundation who completed a course in composting and the clearance and maintenance of the forest screen around renewable plants. The aim is to enable their possible employment to do environmental work jobs with photovoltaic plants.
The course is part of the training activities undertaken by Endesa in all the areas where it is building clean energy generation installations. In addition to the educational material, the students taking the course were presented with a kit containing essential material to undertake composting tasks, as well as a brush cutter, a professional shredder and the PPE (personal protective equipment) necessary to do these jobs safely. All this was done to enable them to continue applying what they learned, both in the installations themselves as well as in possible jobs that derive from this training.
The content of this training activity consists of a total of 99 hours, of which 37 are practical. . This initiative contributes to meeting 10 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the improvement of the use of digital media by people with disabilities.
