- On 25 June at 19:30, the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) will host a new public literary talk, open to all upon prior registration via the RAE’s website.
- This session will feature a dialogue between José Manuel Sánchez Ron (physicist, science historian, and RAE academic) and Patricia Fernández de Lis (science journalist and founder of Materia). The discussion will involve topics including the relationship between different scientific fields and the humanities.
As part of the collaboration between the Endesa Foundation and Fundación pro-RAE, the Royal Spanish Academy will host on 25 April at 19:30 this third edition of the cultural initiative, titled Letras y átomos.
The session will feature a conversation between two leading figures in their respective fields: José Manuel Sánchez Ron, physicist, science historian, and member of the RAE; and Patricia Fernández de Lis, science journalist and founder of Materia, a digital platform dedicated to science, health, and environmental news. Together, they will explore the relationship between scientific disciplines and the humanities, reflecting on major milestones in the history of science and the role of scientists in the literary world. The dialogue will also delve into how literature has shaped their own personal journeys, as well as the importance of science communication and journalism.
Admission is free and open to the public until full capacity is reached. Those interested in attending can reserve a spot through the Royal Spanish Academy’s website.
With this initiative, the Endesa Foundation reinforces its commitment to promoting culture, critical thinking, and creativity through language as a vehicle for knowledge.
The two previous sessions in the series featured prominent voices from literature and film. In the first, RAE members and authors Soledad Puértolas and Clara Sánchez shared their insights into creativity and the writing process. The second brought together filmmaker, writer, and academic Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón and director Jonás Trueba, who discussed cinematic storytelling and its ties to literature. This third session opens a new line of dialogue between science and language, continuing the mission to build bridges between disciplines.
