Tariffs 2.0 and 2.1 for access to electricity

As of June, the regulations governing access tariffs 2.0 and 2.1 will change. In our section we will tell you all you need to know about the new tolls for electricity in 2021.

Access tariffs or tolls 2.0 and 2.1 represent an important part of what you pay in your bill. These costs correspond to your contribution to maintaining in good condition the network that takes electricity to your house.

For you to only need to worry about switching it on, there is a vast network of infrastructures that transports electricity from where it is generated to where it is consumed. This is the power grid.

No fewer than 44,000 kilometres of high voltage lines and more than 5,500 transformer substations are responsible for ensuring that electricity reaches your home at the right voltage.

Electricity access tariffs 2.0 and 2.1 (also called tolls) cover the cost of keeping this grid safe and reliable and in perfect condition.

In general, this accounts for about 40% of the total invoice: The rest is for the electricity consumed, the hire of the meter and taxes.

Changes to your Endesa electricity bill

Find out whether you will pay more or less in your bill with the new regulatory changes made by the government.

1. What does the cost of access tariffs 2.0 and 2.1 depend on?

The costs of these tariffs cannot be chosen, they are the same all over Spain and are decided by the Ministry responsible for Energy. In other words, it has nothing to do with where you live or with which company you have your contract for electricity.

Your company is only responsible for collecting these amounts on the bill and then passing them on to the regulatory body for distribution.

In the case of electricity, your access tariff 2.0 and 2.1 depends primarily on the power you have contracted and the amount you consume.

2. Power bands in access tariffs 2.0 and 2.1

Until now, in access tariffs 2.0 and 2.1 you were obliged to contract a single power band. The only difference between the two tariffs was the limit established by the legislation with regard to power:

  • Power less than 10 kW: Access tariff 2.0.
  • Between 10 kW and 15 kW: Access tariff 2.1.
"Most households have access tariff 2.0"

With the new Regulation in June 2021 the limit will now be the same for both, less than 15 kW. So it will no longer make any sense to differentiate between access tariff 2.0 and 2.1 and both will be identified as 2.0 TD.

3. Time of use metering in access tariffs 2.0 and 2.1

The above-mentioned access tariffs 2.0 and 2.1 may or may not involve time of use metering.

Until now, the number for each tariff was followed by a letter or letters:

  • If there was no time metering, the number was followed by the letter A (2.0A and 2.1A).
  • If there was time metering in two periods (peak and off-peak hours), the number was followed by the letters DHA (2.0DHA and 2.1DHA).
  • If there was time metering in three periods (peak, off-peak and super off-peak) the number was followed by DHS (2.0DHS and 2.1 DHS).
"Almost all households have access tariff 2.0, with time metering in two periods (2.0DHA) or without it (2.0A)"

Under the new regulation for tolls as of June 2021 access tariffs 2.0 and 2.1 will not only have the same name, they will also have the same code letters with regard to time metering.

The code letters for the tariffs: A, DHA, and DHS will all now be TD.

What will this change mean for you as a client?

The regulation obliges the setting of 3 periods of time metering: Peak, standard and off-peak. As if all tariffs were obliged to be DHS, but now renamed TD.

Here in Endesa we have already adapted our rates to prevent these changes from affecting our clients.

4. Our commitment is to ensure quality of service

Maintaining and improving the network is an essential task to ensure continuity of supply and secure and safe installations. An ongoing task that we undertake constantly in those communities where Endesa operates as a distributor.

Here it is our job to clean and maintain the safety corridors in the forests through which our high-voltage lines pass. And to conduct thorough inspections of all our installations: High-, medium- and low-voltage lines, substations, protection and remote control systems, distribution centres, etc.

We also invest in the study, development and application of new technologies and give our technicians the best training.

Everything for the electricity to reach your home without interruption and so you do not need to worry about anything.

Comparison of Electricity and Gas Tariffs

You don't need to adapt to Endesa's tariffs because they adapt to you. If you go to our catalogue you can compare the different tariffs for yourself. Or if you prefer, you can answer a few questions and we will take care of comparing all the different electricity and gas tariffs and then make a customised recommendation.
